So there's a small apartment complex of 45 units. It has a laundry room of 6 washing machines and 6 dryers. If you're the only one there, is it OK to use all 6 machines? Yes or no? Or should you save a machine or two in case anyone else comes in? If it matters, this is a weekend morning.

As long as you're attentive and don't leave your stuff sitting, this seems fine to me.

A cycle takes less than an hour and there are only 45 units? Yes, it is ok to use all the machines. If it was a huge complex with only 6 machines I'd say no. How the **** does one accrue that much laundry living in an apartment?

On a weekend morning I probably wouldn't use more than 4, personally. Seems like it might be prime time for other people wanting to do laundry too.

Of course you use all of the machines; unless there is some sorta idiotic rule stating 'only one machine per resident per laundry session', which there obviously isn't as that would just be plain old dumb.

Goddamn. I lived in an apartment complex of like 40 units and there were only 3 washers and 3 dryers, and only 2 of each worked at a time, and only 1 of each was good enough to ever use.

Yes its ok to use all the machines to wash the blood and evidence off of the clothes from the people you killed and ate.

I think it slightly depends on how early in the morning. If we're talking before 8:30 am then you're probably safe. If after, I'd use 5 of them and courteously leave one open. Possible good move: if a wash cycle takes 40 minutes, then start 3 loads, wait 20 min, then start the other 3. That way there's only a 20 minute window of all machines being used.

Sounds like it's only an annual occurrence, so I wouldn't worry about etiquette. You'll probably be out of there at the end of your lease anyway.

It wasn't me. I went to do laundry this morning and some woman was in there using every machine. It kind of pissed me off. I wasn't sure if I was right to be so mad or if it was irrational. This woman often takes all the machines at once. At least, it's happened more than once to me. But it seems like maybe I was being irrational to be angry. She did take the clothes out and put them in the dryer as soon as she was done.

I normally do 2 loads of laundry on the weekend morning. It just seems crazy to me that one person would hog the entire facility so that others can't use it.

Edit: The machines are kind of on the small side, but it still seems nuts to use all the machines at once.

I always have four loads and I live by myself. throw in another person or some towels/sheets and 6 seems pretty easy

definitely no problem using all of them. who would even know they just come in and see the machines all used. whats the difference? in fact id rather it be one person as long as they are on top of it since then all the machines will be free for me at the same time

This thread is full of people who have never lived in an apartment with multiple kids. When you have kids who have a week full of activities it's pretty easy to have 6 loads build up by the weekend. Its no where near as easy to just run a load through like someone who has a washer and dryer in home can.

As to OP, if they load them all up and are there to empty them as soon as they are done I don't see a problem. The people that leave their **** sitting there for hours are the bad ones

Can you justifiably do it? Yes.

Should you do it? No way.

Six loads of laundry take the same amount of machine time regardless of how you break it up. If she did three loads then three loads it could have been worse for you because some other 6 load person could have come to do three and three and you'd be sol. This way, that hypothetical six load second person decided to wait and come back later and you got in there after one run rather than two. You should offer to help that lady fold in gratitude.
