None of us can be sure of anything except one undisputable fact. That Cameron Gamble fella is a just too dreamy. As a married man, I'd have to forgive my wife for leaving me and the kids if he'd have her.

So they're doubling down. The husband's statement:

I know the fact that this is written like a romance novel is not really pertinent, but wtf. Signature blonde hair? The rise of her scabs?
A good sign that someone is lying is that they go into way too much detail. There is way too much detail in his story. Nobody would remember that or recite it like that. That doesn't mean she might not have been kidnapped but his story smells like mostly bs.

Wow you guys are true cynics.

Kidnapped, held for weeks, branded, had the s**t beat out of her, then bound and dumped by the side of a highway. But it's all b.s. because the husband writes bad I guess.

I think you're pretty naïve if you take everything in the husband quote at exactly face value.
Can you even present a single instance of a similar case that turned out like the husband would have us believe?

Rev,

What would you put the odds at that she was actually kidnapped by two mystery banditas?

So a woman I am very distantly acquainted to just posted on fb that she just found out about this story and it made her heart stop. Apparently not that long ago she was at the Costco in Redding and while her husband was putting away the cart and she was loading the kids up in the car a white SUV, dark tinted windows with two Latino women pulled up next to her and said something she couldn't hear. She moved closer and they said something about being on hard times and if she could lend them some money and give them her address they'd get it back to her. Her husband came back and they drive off and he saw there was a large male in the back of the SUV.

The SUV had dealer plates. They reported it. She is a small blonde woman.

Sounds like more like an attempted extortion robbery to me than anything else but she is thanking Jesus for keeping her from being sex trafficked. I'm not close with her or her husband but they don't seem like the type to make **** up. The only sketch part to me is I know the husband has been active on social media and she is claiming she hasn't been and just found out about this. Him not being exposed and not making the connection earlier seems odd.

If it is connected, I can see a scenario where these same women try to rob the gang fighting super mom, her skinhead pride kicks in and she spits in their Latino faces leading to and unplanned escalation and abduction. The Alfa negotiator is brought in, makes contact, does his thing, creates that video el d posted to signal they are playing ball and to make the ransom officially a "reward" and the rest is a family trying to piece their lives back together while unable to say what really happened. The cops are frustrated with the lack of cooperation of course however the thing is bud, Ryan Gossling Gamble gets results but we play by his rules---no ****ing fuzz...agreed? This leads *******s like me to doubt them and ridicule people who don't doubt them.

Sorry revolts33. Sorry Pappinis. Sorry Jesus for scoffing at the idea you answered the Facebook prayers. Sorry pretty blondes for thinking you are more likely to lie. Sorry for still being flippant even now. Just...sorry.

This could be a direct quote from the comments on the news stories.

Or the people you know re-remembered their incident and posted it on FB so they could feel like part of the story. Because some people live for that ****.

Don't know what to think but going to err on the side of not blaming the victim until more is known. Drawn to ransom payment being made as conclusion for now. Husband probably had speechwriter for his statement so I don't find it too suspect.

It may not be fair but I think it's reasonable to be a bit skeptical. Someone's history and character count for something.

Also read both the (alleged) skinhead site post along with the husband's statement, and I definitely don't fault fellow non-experts for suspecting the same author wrote both. It's entirely possible they both have he same flair for narcissistic flowery language and dramatic comma use.

Then again, there was that California kidnapping case recently that people and even the police wrote off as a hoax, but didn't actually turn out to be a hoax (and they caught the kidnapper).

I do usually discount random encounter witnesses too, even if they're being honest and well-meaning who knows who or what they saw. We live in this world:

I don't know why people would think they made it up. But I also don't know why anyone would jump to the conclusion it was a robbery or sex trafficking attempt either. I'd guess it was more likely someone just begging for money in a parking lot which seems to happen to me more and more lately. Its rarer that they were in a vehicle, but people have pulled up next to me in a parking lot saying they need to buy medicine and have no money before. I would never think to call the cops.

I have been robbed more than once in my life. Starting the interaction by asking to "borrow" something or "let me hold" something is not unusual, especially when there are other menacing factors involved. I've seen people give up their property without a fight before when aggressively asked, and I have had it escalate on me when I refused. When I was a teenager on public transit in the Bay Area, if a group of kids approached you and asked to borrow a quarter you were about to get jumped. It was well known.

The fact that they claimed to be on hard times and simultaneously asked for her home address while driving a relatively expensive car with dealer plates still on it do not add up to begging really.

In hindsight they said they reported it, but didn't specify to the cops--maybe to Costco? I'll go back and see what's developed in the comments besides a lot of thanking Jesus.

Husband's version with added details--I had some minor ones incorrect.

Wife and her sister drove in separate cars from him and his son who is a young kid. He was walking to meet the women at their car after parking and getting his son out and the driver of the brand new Tahoe SUV (he remembers it being dark blue or black, the women both remember it being white) was whispering something to his wife. He walked right up and ask his wife what she said and she replied that they asked for money. He went and handed the driver $5 and she mumbled something and drove off. He looked inside as they did and saw a second woman in the passenger seat and also a huge dude, 6'5' 280 or so in the back.

He thinks they were trying to get her to walk close then the big dude would grab her and they would take off, but he interrupted them.

He then went on to tell a story about how a friend of his in Sacramento has a young daughter that was kidnapped, had her hair cut and died and an ID made for her to be shipped to Mexico but the police found her in time.

He then went on to describe how he thinks Shiela must have been chained in their truck and probably figured out a way to jump out while they were driving and escaped.

Now. I never heard anything about a local girl being kidnapped and saved from a sex trafficking ring on her way to Mexico. I really want to ask him for more details about that.

Also, Sheila's story is that she was let go by one of the women. I don't know why he has added the whole jumping from a moving vehicle to escape narrative on his own.

Also, he is sticking with the Tahoe being midnight blue or black, both women say white. I know that memory is **** in these situations, but he seems willing to imagine a lot of details.

Dude between this, pappini, his friend's daughter's abduction in Sacramento...I mean I live right on the yolo county line... didn't know it was so kidnappy around here.

ETA: forgot he said the female passenger looked hella familiar and also so high on heroin she was almost passed out. Also they did report it to the cops over the phone.

I thought that's where he was going with it at first but it never got there.

Further update; I had heard about the case of his friend's daughter when it happened however I didn't know (still wonder about if) he knew them---it was not what he claimed in the Facebook post really.

ETA: I did not confirm with him that this is the story about his friend, but after googling kidnappings in Sacramento there was nothing that talked about a young girl being recovered from sex trafficking except this and the original Facebook post that snopes clears up with more details matched his account. The real story does not quite. Still ****ed up though.

http://www.snopes.com/roseville-human-trafficking/

I'm not as secure in my initial assessment that they don't seem like the type to make **** up.

All the hysteria about sex trafficking is ridiculous. No one trafficks middle aged women, nor moderately well off women. They target poor, vulnerable, and young women. The speculation about sex trafficking in this case is just racist fantasies.

Idk if you've seen the pics but she's a slender 32 yo not exactly a middle aged scuzzbucket. She was out in jogging clothes so she may have looked even younger.

This area she was abducted from is in the middle of nowheresville so it's hard to imagine anyone casually cruising this neighborhood and really this area expecting to find someone out and about. Also there were homes within eyesight of where they found her phone so not the most discreet broad daylight abduction.

I would put the odds at well over 90% at least that she is telling the truth. Starving yourself, beating yourself to a pulp, and dumping yourself by the side of a road just to smear Latinas or make a few $ on gofundme seems like a bit much.

It is certainly possible that ransom was paid secretly and that is why she was dumped by the highway... but the idea that it is faked strains credulity and is very cynical and unfair to the victim imo.
