This is such a strange story. Did she really get randomly kidnapped and released? Did she run off? I guess it's pretty insensitive to speculate about her being involved but oh well it's the Internet.

I read about this last night. The first thing I thought was it seems like something major is missing from the story here.

I won't be surprised at all if it turns out the wife isn't being honest here (unless they run some kind of illegal enterprise). I'd actually be more surprised if this is the whole story and the kidnappers were just random criminals.

Another possibility, I guess, is some Fargo-esque scheme cooked up by the husband. It just doesn't seem to make sense for a real kidnapper to let her go. Maybe somebody kidnapped her and lost their nerve? But why would that take three weeks?

Regardless I hope we find out what happened.

I have never heard of two armed women kidnapping another woman, successfully holding her hostage for 3 weeks in the face of publicity and reward money, and then somehow escaping.

Gut instinct based on almost zero info is that she is a racist who happens to be telling the truth. Maybe the women who abducted her (or the men they worked for) got cold feet and dumped her, figuring if she's found alive they can't be tried for murder and might get away with it altogether.

Could be some sort of revenge for past racial confrontations I suppose, or random drug dealers who just happened to be Latino abducting an attractive white woman for ransom/sex slavery, then chickening out.
