have no idea why you would get mad. there are people in wheelchairs who have to use those spots so if the guy can park in a regular one then why not?
06-10-2017 , 06:29 PM
I was going to post that in the Shouldn't Piss You Off thread but had assumed I'd get shouted down with TSPYO!

I had thought about it in a binary way: if you need the placard, you should be parking there. If you don't - like if you're a 20-year old driving grandma's car - then you'd obviously just take it down and park anywhere. Situations like good/bad days just didn't really occur to me.

But hey, 2p2 is here as a great sounding board! Can't believe someone who doesn't check after they wipe like LFS would get all self-righteous about it, but like he said: we're not all perfect.

"how does your sense of sight help you when wiping" is the best start to a thread ever

I've got
"Is changing your name a dick move?"
"Changing your gender is a dick move"

as the best start to a thread ever.

Honorable mention to
"Is it wrong to screw your cousin?"
"Maeby"

That thread changed my wiping habits!

The videos krunic and Ungoliant posted quacked me up.

RDH how come it never occured to you when you see a car with a HC placard parked in a normal spot that the only person in the car that particular time was not disabled? Seems super obvious that multiple people in a family might drive the same car, and only one of them needs the HC parking.

And even if the person driving the car is the disabled person, LOL at having any negative reaction whatsoever to seeing the placard in a regular non-HC spot. I don't understand what there is to get upset about.

Are you also fine with using a handicap bathroom stall when others are available? Because those two viewpoints are not compatible.

My dad had a pretty serious injury a few years ago and doesn't get around very well...he just turned 85 and has a placard. I've had occasion to be at my parents' and drove them to dinner in their car because I was driving a small car at them time and have dropped them at the front door of a restaurant and then drove to a regular spot to park. Didn't know I was potentially being judged.

I guess because I would 100% take down the card if I was driving the car. I honestly can't really imagine driving around with the HC placard hanging from the rearview if it was my grandma's car; it just seems so obvious to take it down in that situation I'm surprised it's (seemingly) common. oT, if you're driving and not parking in HC spots, why leave it up? Inertia?

In any case, glad I posted as this has cemented the change in my thinking. Thanks, OOT!

What about the placards that are embedded on the license plate?? Are you going to order an extra set of plates and swap those out every time you drive the car?
06-11-2017 , 08:24 AM
Leave the placard up because if you forget to put it back g-ma is getting a ticket tomorrow.

Don't be an idiot.

Lol if I recall correctly Im not the one who gets irrationally pissed off when someone parks there car in a regular spot if they have a HC placard
Also willing to bet that the HC card being on license plates never even crossed your mind

seems like the guy realizes he was irrationally wrong for several reasons. actually a welcome change to the typical oot flow where the poster doubles down and argues with everyone about it

OOT,

Tried a drink today, I think they called it orange coffee creamsicle or something. Orange juice, heavy cream, and espresso shaken with ice. Sounded potentially terrible, but was really great!

That does sound terrible. Ratio of ingredients? Any sugar added?

Dbz,

I dunno, and I don't think so, but not sure.

It was at that revival place in Berkeley so you could go check it out right now!
