RIP Dolores. Probably deserves her own thread, she had a truly amazing voice.
Ah, dammit, now I'm sad. Great talent, sad loss. RIP.

Rexx, Gin:

It's sad she died so young, and she definitely had a very pretty voice.

That Zombie song was pretty annoying tho.

Too soon

ED,
That's just in your head. In your head.

Cap,

Out of respect to cranberries superfan Rexx I will not respond to the content of your post.

Maybe Diablo has had the misfortune of working with an Andy Bernard clone.

I agree. Given the lack of information about her death and the fact that she had been suffering from severe back pain the past year, I'd say that an overdose is very likely the cause.

I didn’t like Zombie that much but Linger and Dreams are solid solid songs when I’m in that kind of mood. RIP, really sad, the Cranberries were on my bucket list to see live.

The Cranberries song that jumps to mind for me is "Dreaming My Dreams", solely because it was the music playing when Bailey and Sarah (Jennifer Love Hewitt!) finally hooked up on Party of Five.

Good times

Trying to find contact with this library in Lincoln:
https://ahsgr.site-ym.com/?page=Library.

My mom wants a book from this library, that she found on some obscure list. Now she wants me to get a copy somehow. Last time I dealt with a library was in university...... Probably will start with calling them and see where this leads.

One vote for Zombie.

I remember when the Cranberries first blew. The Atlanta alternative FM station made PSA announcements: There are no Cranberries discs anywhere in Atlanta. All sold out at all stores. When more come in, we'll tell you.

That's a hot band. And a long ****ing time ago.

Linger>>>>>>>>>>>>Zombie

You know I'm such a fool for youuuu...

blows away

Zombie, zombie, zombie eh eh OH OH AH AH...
01-16-2018 , 03:04 PM
Linger and Dreams ldo. I was elementary school age. I actually didnt know about Zombie until I got Sirius a few years ago. Agree with annoying.
01-16-2018 , 03:07 PM
Wow. Now im not a huge YouTube guy, but ar 663M vies, Zombie is definitely the most viewed video Im aware of. Then again I haven't checked on things like Gangnam Style in awhile. But thats an outrageous number.
01-16-2018 , 03:12 PM
Eh, the 663,000,001st viewing has given me the opinion of, "i like song, except for aforementioned Zombayeh part "
01-16-2018 , 03:17 PM
Linger is MOR pop. Zombie features her edgy voice. Totally superior tune.
01-16-2018 , 03:34 PM
"Zombie" is great, but I can only imagine the stupid attempts at wit in the YouTube comments on a song with that name right after she died.
01-16-2018 , 03:48 PM
I'm really surprised at the love for Zombie - all I can think of is how annoying the chorus is. Gonna give it a listen again right now.

Also, I'm wondering how many people here actually have purchased Cranberries music. I own 2 of their CDs, but do people even buy music anymore?
01-16-2018 , 03:50 PM
No, Zombie is not a good song.

Re: what Spidercrab mentioned, I have notice myself reverting back sooner than I expected to the collecting of physical media. The convenience of streaming everything was grand for a few years, and of course it is still convenient. However, I would not have predicted a few years ago that I would already prefer to buy a book rather than purchase a digital copy, or a Blu-ray disc rather than a digital rental. With music, only vinyl has that attraction. I doubt anyone collects CD’s. Something about the medium is cold and sterile now, and it offers no advantages over streaming imo.

I love paper books and I still have a few I couldn't part with.

But, they become a *lot* of physical bulk.

The death of O'Riordan has me reflecting on celebrity.

She probably made news in part because she was so young to have died.

But, The Cranberries hadn't been **** for at least 15 years. I can see a scenario where her death is a footnote, not a headline.

So did the band get hot enough during their relatively short window that they stuck? Is it because 'Linger' has never really dropped from airplay rotation?

Did, say, Dimebag Darrell get this kind of press? Or did I hear about his passing because of the particular media bubble I create for myself?
01-16-2018 , 04:44 PM
Chip: No, Dimebag Darrell did not receive coverage in any way similar to this. The Cranberries, for a couple year period, were a huge mainstream success. Pantera never was. And yes, Linger and Zombie are songs that have stood the test of time. Pretty much everyone who listened to music in the early/mid-nineties knows who the Cranberries were. Far, far fewer are familiar with Pantera.

Big: lol, 2 BILLION doesn't even get you in the top 10 music video views. https://www.billboard.com/articles/n...watched-videos

27: You're obv correct re: Linger >>>>> Zombie.
01-16-2018 , 06:16 PM
I actually agree regarding Zombie. I much prefer Linger, Dreams and also Ode to my Family. I think I would have enjoyed Zombie more if it hadn't been beaten to death on the radio here.

It was too soon though.
01-16-2018 , 07:38 PM
I wonder how many people listening to Zombie actually have a clue what it's about.
01-16-2018 , 08:09 PM
Zombies duh
