Pretty much the same theory although I just based it on second hand info.

There was a point where a promoter wanted me to buy it. Same guy also tried to organize a Atomic relaunch but both went nowhere.

What about Lush in London, Ontario -- ever play there?

It was for sale to like...Everyone kinda...At one point from what I hear. They were in so much debt and just trying to get $$$ anyway possible. Might not be the same situation but...Yea...They offered it to many at one point.

Atomic def has some insane nights. Lush in London sounds familiar but I don't think so.

Drum and bass is far from dieing.

On the one hand you have the good "underground" scene, full of talented producers that can get their tracks out into the public domain for hardly any music with all the new non vinyl labels in a massive variety of genres (jump up / tech / liquid / minimal etc. etc.) and a very healthy rave scene with stuff going on all the time. Innovation in the sun is happening right now!

On the other hand, the cheesy ****e drum and bass like subfocus and chase and status are playing basically all of the non DnB specific festivals like Glastonbury (I think), Beach break, bestival, and many more spreading the genre to a load more people who wont have discovered it before.

Also, your opinions on the following artists if you've heard of them: Disco Biscuits, Bassnectar, Spongle, Sound tribe sector 9, LCD sound system, Thievery corporation
I went to a cool outdoor rave featuring the Disco Biscuits in like "99" I don't really follow the scene and didn't know anyone else had ever heard of them.

LOL are they famous/popular?

AlwaysAndForever,

Hope you don't let this cool thread die--there are still questions to answer

Until you return, here's a nice house/deep house/disco/indie dance mix of mine as a distraction...

No! But I have been slacking I suppose. Been in and out and doing stuff in the studio. Downswing in pokerz had me kinda not on here as much as well. I kinda semi forgot about it as well. I'm not a huge message board person.

I actually may have to correct some things I said or revisit one of my opinions RE: beatport charts and "commericalism" as I have begun playing / incorporating some diff stuff into my sets. I find allot of the new "techno" and "tech house" kinda interesting and somewhat exciting for lack of a better word. Allot of it has a very strong "groove". Also so much of the Chicago stuff is beginning to sound same'ish. Jus trying some stuff out and looking to be inspired.

I think I was headed towards a bit of a change musically but obv had to wait till I wanted to do it / was into the music as opposed to doing it just cuz others were or because it was more popular now etc etc. Jus trying it out tho.

Here is part of a live mix from a couple of weeks ago which I would not dare post on a house message board as they might crucify me! IE "WTF r u doing playing techy!" etc etc haha. Evolve or die tho.

Here is the mix - http://www.sendspace.com/file/g9klww

I dunno if u will like this one 909 but I'm trying new things and trying to be open minded . I'm not even sure how I feel about it yet .

I will pay more attention to this thread tho and answer the above Q's / replies I missed in a hot minute. Enjoy the mix for now. And thanxx for the mix 909 will check.

I'm not at all a message board guy so I'm prob not the best to answer. 2+2 is by far the board I'm the most active on and I'm not *that active.

Prob resident advisor? Tranceaddict.com or something like that? UGH.net is cool. 909 would might know better than me.

I used to frequent a local message board but there was just so much drama after a while that I stopped. It's nice to see people saying nice stuff about you and to feel appreciated and I'm all for interaction but the haters are just unreal lol. They make stuff up about you...Start ish...Internet gangsters imo . The praise is nice but the hate is just 2 much sometimes when u are in the "public eye". Kinda like winning a big pot vs getting a beat put on u / donked. U remember the bad more for some reason.

That's the interwebs tho I suppose. I'd rather post here and be "anonymous" as opposed to DJ / EDM boards. Here I'm just another grinder.

The "I don't like to talk $" is a cop-out, especially on a poker website, and especially since you didn't give your real name. I understand somewhat if you don't want to, but I'd really like to know what, say, Steve Angello gets when he shows up at Opera or Markus Schulz at Red Lite (both Montreal).

I enjoyed the thread though and that's the only "negative". Thanks. I'm about to listen to your first mix, we'll see how it goes.

Thoughts on the Montreal scene? Played any of the big ones?

What would get you to retire? Do you have a set age at which you think it'd be time to call it quits, or will you play as long as people listen? Some of the big-name electronic DJ's are getting quite old (a bunch are hitting 40 soonish, but are still very popular, when do they quit?) ?

I have been really flakey with this post for like..2mnths but it's summer and I rather enjoy it than type tl:dr answers . On the real tho I try to give everyone a proper answer but answeing 5 is kind of time consuming so....I'm just gonna be quick.

1. Kind of ? Yes! Wait no . No music ever dies. It is def less popular than it once was obv and I'm not up to speed on DnB in 2010 but it seems to still be there with some of the usual suspects doing there thang so...Prob not dead.

2. Beatport charts don't always suck. I know I said something like that but I have come to realize this is not the case.(long story). Finding "the new hot music" depends on what you define as "hot" but I'd say in general it's a combo of finding out about some of the bigger tunes of the moment within your "style"and aquiring them before they come out (so u can play it b4 it gets outplayed and also just to have the new hot track ) - And - Always digging for hot tracks that have been overlooked / hot tracks period. Then there is all the "promo mp3s" u get tht out of the tonnes...There is always some hot **** tht often never even gets signed. Hot tracks get overlooked alllllllllllllllot more now than b4 because there is like IDK...100 times the volume of new music being circulated now than there was 10 or even 5 years ago.

At the end of the day tho A hot track is what you find a hot track. I di encourage the digging part.

I have no clue who they are really. I think I may have played with them a while ago which is the only reason I know the name and what they do so no clue.

what do you think of crookers, diplo(mad decent in general), the bloody beetroots, ed banger and all this new kind of electro music that is killing it right now? (at least here in europe every gig has one of this big names on it and its sounding even on radios and mainstream clubs)

Have you played in Spain? How was it?

I think dIPLO is mad cool. He's just having fun with music...That's what I hear when I hear his stuff. I realllllllllllllllllllllllllly don't like thew new electro stuff. Wolfgang Gartner is an old friend of mine and his stuff and Deadmau5s is kinda catchy but not at all my bag. The new electro sounds like...Well...House/electro/baltimore/breaks/noize all mixed together. Personally I do not like it at all but the kids seem to love it so personal choice. Fwiw mad decent is a cool label anf again, it seems all those guys are having allot of fun with music so its a win in my books.

Yes been to spain. Loved it. BCN ftw. Girls has smaller asses than I wanted

I tried to take my time and answer everyone who asked a Q properly but then jst got busy and stuff and it was summer so...Time better spent outside imo :0.

I will still look in and answer Q's when I have time...And will def answer the popular "djs getting girls" question tht obv kept poppin up .
