Our offshore (India) guys are really keen on using the word 'bifurcate'/'bifurcation'.

I have never heard anyone else use it.

Revert is ridiculous.

Never heard this, but sounds insufferable. Is it used just as a fancier sounding term in lieu of “metric” or “measurement”? (And why not say “analytics”, which sounds less douchey...)

so you will see stuff like 'please revert as soon as possible'. apparently it spread from india but it's used by a lot of white people. it probably happens in england too.
I'm reminded of how the French and German open source devs started using 'performant.'

Not MJ's though. The Chipmunks.

A pretty senior person has Stewie from Family Guy’s “Mom, Mom, Mom” as a ringtone and at least weekly it goes off for 30 seconds when she’s not near her phone. I’m really surprised no one has chucked it out a window yet.

“Open the aperture” is one that’s been making the rounds lately in my neck of the woods. ****ing terrible.

Is that another term for "get ready and bend over"?

Well, I'm assuming it's a photography reference. Opening a lens aperture allows more light to hit the film/sensor.

So, using the phrase in an office setting must mean... something incredibly stupid.

“Open the hole” wasn’t cleared by HR.

It’s 100% this, and it’s meant to mean “broaden your focus” or some dumb bullshit. Here it is in the wild:

Lolll, you should just start making random camera references about everything.

"Wow, Linda is really pulling rack focus over in Sales!"

"I want to push development on this exposure by 2 full stops."

"Don't forget to consider the Dutch angle on this project."

Opening the aperture makes a narrower depth of field, lol

If we open the aperture too wide we loose focus of our core directives.

I'm getting pretty tired of hearing about business "verticals".

This. It also results in a shorter exposure.

I can see the metaphor but it's a little blurry around the edges.

I love my job. A bit lonely, but no annoying office coworkers. I did the office insurance job in my early 20s but there weren’t any annoying people everyone was like a big, chill family

So you had literally zero reason to post in this thread and added nothing to the discussion.

Top notch. You're really crushing it on this account.

Look at your post, brah. You posted literally zero regarding the topic. My post at least was on topic. What is your obsession with me? Do I know you?

Thanks for coming in to cool that down two days later, after ProblemPlaya was already temp-banned for similar shenanigans elsewhere.
