I don't know the details of the relationship and how out of line it is to ask the sister to babysit, but I do think it's ****ty of the bf to not realize what a chump the gf must feel like after this exchange and not do something about it.
Perhaps sister was not interested in babysitting demonspawn, but when work cleared up, would have rather gone to the game.

This. I can't call a road or street by its name or she'll have no clue. I have to give a landmark she's familiar with on that street.

Well no kidding, anyone would prefer a fun activity over doing someone a favor. The point is this is a somewhat crappy thing to do to the gf.

The gf who despises her?

Remember she doesn't hate her, she just thinks of her with disgust and utter contempt.

I don't know the details of why the gf hates her, maybe it's because the sister is terrible, or maybe it's because MLYLT is a hateful person.

I do know this: if my brother asked me to cover for his gf so the two of them could go out on the town, but I was busy with work, and then worked cleared up, I wouldn't ask my brother to come out for a drink with me instead. And I certainly wouldn't suggest we go to the exact event his gf was missing.

I'm not even sure it's that crappy. There's a huge degree of entitlement when someone imposes on you to babysit your kid, and sometimes people lie rather than say "I don't want to do it". If I asked someone to babysit my kids and they lied and said they were busy or something, then found out they went out that night to have fun, it would be only slightly annoying at best, as it's kind of a dick move on me to assume they would do it.

Irritates the **** out of me that the wife will leave cups of tea and other such nonsense on the kitchen counter by all the other dirty dishes and somehow assumes that I should be able to distinguish it from the other **** that goes directly into the dishwasher. Put it literally anywhere else in the house and it's almost surely safe from me putting it in the dishwasher.

I agree with everything, except for the fact that sister goes to the exact activity that gf wanted to go to. If I were sister and managed to get work off, and had the (bad) relationship with gf that seems to be in place, I probably wouldn't have told the gf I was free (since I already had an out by being busy previously). But going to the very game that she was missing seems like too much of a slap in the face.

I can't believe anyone is defending MLYLT in this thread. It is beyond comprehension.

My gf comments on how cute little kids are whenever we see them. I counter by pointing out whenever we see one being a brat.

It's only a slap when she is entitled to babysitting. People lie to be nice, if you are going to be upset by it, I guess you are going to have a tough life.

Her car shopping priorities list. Posted a long trip report about dealership experience in another thread but this aspect falls squarely into this thread.

Remote start, push button start, color. In about that order and non-negotiable.

Engine type, warranty terms, reviews, fuel efficiency...all secondary wants she could be flexible on.

Standard.

And I'm not talking about transmissions.

BTW, well done in the other thread.

That's quite sesquipedalianistic of your wife. Tell her to stop that.

This is a constant thing in our house. She puts The Voice on instead of whatever I'd want to watch and 10 minutes later she's on her phone playing Candy Crush or something. And it's a 2 hour show most days.

The cartoon kind of looks like us too.
