Still waiting to find out if my street is flooded out and if my apartment complex has power. If anyone is driving around near Derby Lane please let me know.

This cruise boat is wedged against the bridge that we need to get out on

Didnt seem as bad as the media sensationalized it to be.

Longest sustained cat 5 in history. The British and US virgin Islands are destroyed. The southern keys are probably destroyed too but no one knows because there is absolutely no communication coming out of there.

If Irma doesn't impact the Cuban cost like it did this storm would have been everything advertised plus some for southern Florida. People over preparing for a storm hurts absolutely nothing. Better to be safe then sorry

Lol, based on what? The fact that Tampa isn't 10 ft underwater?

The Keys and Southern parts of Gulf Coast still got nailed...

There's some Heli footage of the Keys floating round on Twitter

Seems like your best chance to steal a cruise ship. Or, "borrow"...

There were a number of things which worked in Florida's favour that happened at the very end making the hurricane weaken before Florida, but the damage to Barbuda, Saint Maarten, etc was really horrific

Cuba got hit hard, but they know how to deal with hurricanes so the damage wasn't nearly as bad as if some other country was in the same location of Cuba at that time.

If idiot thugs were not out being idiot thugs, then there would be no need for comments in the first place...those were NOT survival items being stolen.

What is the store supposed to do? Tell their employees to all take a dozen or so guns home with them along with a few cases of ammo?

It is not the fault of the store that a predatory demographic has to always act the fool in such situations.

So far, it's been calmer than I expected up here in suburban Atlanta. We've been hearing that things have been picking up and power has been going out not too far from us, though, so we're still expecting to lose power.

Clearly it's not as bad here as it is in Florida, but what I'm nervous about is that there are lots of tall trees around my house. My neighborhood has tons of tree cover, so if the wind gets really bad, especially with gusts, I expect trees to come down. Hopefully a power outage is the worst that things get.

And my mail carrier just delivered a package to me. That's dedication.

I went to work just for the morning and hardly anyone was there. left at lunch because I could and there was just light rain. allegedly going to be worse later but I doubt anything notable happens

For my own safety, who are these predators you speak of?

I'd feel fine if I lived in an apartment building in the city. Unless it's a condemned building or something, worst case scenario is you lose power (though my brother lives in a brand new building and water is leaking around the balcony door).

At my house, I'm nervous because of all the trees looming over my abode. If the ground gets too soft and then the wind picks up, we could have trouble.

Have friends who evacuated Clearwater area and went to stay with friends in Charleston, SC. Talk about bad luck.

My town lost a ton of trees to Sandy back in 2012. While wind certainly played a factor, for the really large trees it was saturation from all the water which really contributed. Not sure what the rain forecast looks like but it may play an equal role in downed trees.

North St. Pete is a mess. Went by my place but the street was flooded and the power was off. Back to the hotel. ..
