Do police always advertise that they are not responding to calls? I'm kind of surprised there isn't well organized looting. Especially if power is out. No cameras.

I did not know that (obv). If the looters don't know that, same effect.

Every time we go outside we think it can't get any windier but it does.

That was the mayor basically saying Tampans are on their own once **** gets bad and while it is bad, but they'll resume being the gov't when it gets better. Not sure I had ever heard it so bluntly stated.

"You want to do some looting during the hurricane?"

"Hell yeah, bro. What should we hit?"

"I was thinking like a jewelry store or something."

"Nah, lets get shoes."

I imagine a jewelry store would have advanced security measures or simply remove inventory.

A few hours ago there were reports of a standoff between SWAT and a group of people attempting to steal guns from a sporting goods store. Never underestimate how stupid people are to leave valuable or dangerous **** around.

How's the surge in West coast? Did it hit Naples hard?

Glad the storm tore apart more than expected.

Just got out and walked around. Pretty bad. Trees down everywhere. GF parked under one that uprooted but fortunately blew the other way. Electricity is amazingly still on, but we lost cable so we can't get local news. Cops aren't letting people on the road here. Still windy and rainy.

The water is definitely high, but not the surge they were predicting.

Naples surge apparantly hit at low tide which was fortunate.

Sounds like Marco Island took the worst of it, as expected.

Just heard from the in-laws that their macadamia nut tree collapsed onto a power line. Thankfully it went that way and not toward the house. Other than that and a little water, all seems okay. Tons of trees down in the neighborhood, like bigger said.

If you go to the local news' website, there is usually a link to view the live stream of the broadcast online.

Downed fences and trees where I am in Polk County. Still have the power on. Not so bad. Didn't spend thousands of dollars to flee the state. Who is the idiot now?

I sent a couple of boxes of supplies to St. Thomas via USPS Express mail. The boxes are guaranteed to be delivered today. Over under on when they're received?
