Any updates like this are appreciated. The local guys aren't doing it now. They are focusing on tornado watches and general disaster stuff. We aren't getting storm track updates.

I don't watch a lot of live hurricane coverage. This is definitely the first time I've heard of a reporter in the Florida Keys riding it out by standing next to a gas station. It is also the first time I've heard of a reporter staying on the Naples beach in order to film a possible 10-15 foot storm surge come in. These things sound stupider to me than usual. Is this common?

Have talked with a few here in Houston that are getting low-balled offers remotely based upon someone with the agency seeing a single picture of the parking garage. The offer was about $4K less than comps that were known to exist in the week prior to the flooding...and since the offer was only $9K, that is a significant lowballing...
I agree. Just relating what I was told at the poker tables. You know how whiny poker players can be.

A friend of mine is shopping for a replacement car in Houston now. Treacherous stuff.

The wind really picked up. It's the first time we've been able to hear it.

Doesn't look like much has changed with direction, winds, or pressure.

In Pasco County, north of Tampa, sheriff’s officers warned citizens not to shoot guns into the air, after a Facebook post suggested shooting Irma out of the sky went viral. “LETS SHOW IRMA THAT WE SHOOT FIRST,” the post from a 22-year-old man said.
About 27,000 people responded that they would attend the “Shoot At Hurricane Irma” Facebook event.
“There we no actual shots fired. We don’t know if the individual was joking, or making a serious threat,” said Pasco County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Doug Tobin. “We’re just responding to citizens in general, making sure no one shoots weapons in the air. The bullet trajectory could come down and hurt individuals.”
Ryon Edwards, of Daytona Beach Shores, added an update Sunday morning to his wildly popular Facebook post, saying he’s “learned that about 50% of the world could not understand sarcasm to save their lives.”

Got tired of watching the news and put football on. I've done everything I need to do and its not going to get really bad here until about 8:00 or so. Guess I can watch football!

Some of these shots of people walking WAY out into Tampa Bay because all the water was pushed out is pretty crazy. It floods down there routinely in normal rains so to see it empty is fascinating. Of course it will be the opposite when the winds turn.

If she has any doubt whatsoever about her situation, encourage her to go to a shelter. They will not turn you away. And at this point you really only have to ride it out in the shelter for 24-36 hours assuming the damage isn't catastrophic.

Jeff Piotrowski is back at it again live.. Expecting to take direct hit from the eyewall just like he did in Rockport Texas. Guy is crazy as ****

He's expecting 120+ winds in 5 minutes or so. He's currently located 15 miles south of Naples FL

Dropped back to cat 3. Still moving in same direction but appears to be speeding up. Was 9 MPH all morning and now 12 MPH. Think that's good for flooding from rain but not sure if it means anything else.

I've watched a few minutes of this and it's bumped up my estimation of the common sense of the general population -- haven't seen a single other idiot out driving around.

Lot of official warnings to get away from the water in Naples area. Looks like the eye is about to come ashore south of Naples but the eyewall might be a direct hit on Naples with a 10-15 foot surge.
