The nut rage incident, also referred to as nutgate (Korean: 땅콩 회항, Ttangkong hoehang), occurred on December 5, 2014, at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, when Korean Air vice president Heather Cho, having been dissatisfied with the way a flight attendant served her nuts on the plane, ordered the aircraft to taxi back to the airport's gate before takeoff.

First-class passengers, including Cho, were given nuts bagged in their original packaging (in conformity with the airline's procedures); Cho had expected them to be served on a plate in first class.
That has got to be the most nuts story I have ever read.

Some cool pictures of it if you image search.

Sanpaku

According to Chinese medical face reading, when the white part of the eye, known as thesclera, is visible beneath the iris, it represents physical imbalance in the body and is claimed to be present in*alcoholics, drug addicts and people who over-consume*sugar*or grain.*

There's another "interesting things told well" podcast out. That guy is really good. I's certainly heard the phrase "black hole of Calcutta" and vaguely knew it was a prison of some sort, but no more than that.

FBI Ten Most Wanted:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI_Te...gitives,_2000s

Surprisingly good read. It's not a total list:

The 2000s (decade) started out badly for the FBI's much needed attempts to upgrade technology. First, the "Trilogy" project went far over the $380 million budget, and behind its three-year schedule. Then, Virtual Case File (VCF) planned for completion in 2003, was officially abandoned in 2005, after more than $100 million spent.[2] A new, more ambitious investigation software project, Sentinel, was introduced in 2005 as a replacement for the failed VCF system.

In 2001, Robert Hanssen, high within the Bureau, was caught selling information to the Russians, and Bureau security practices came into question.

A few that are a bit strange:

Donald Eugene Webb - Removed from the list on March 31, 2007, without ever being located. On July 14, 2017, remains found at the Dartmouth home of Webb's wife were identified as belonging to Webb. Investigators stated that Webb had died in 1999.

Arthur Lee Washington Jr. - • Removed from the list in December 2000 for no longer meeting the list criteria.

Probably a smorgasbord of good murder-related links.

Re: Interesting Wikipedia articles for killing time and expanding your mind!!

Is it possible to move all the Interesting Things Explained Well stuff to it's own thread? It's obviously good and interesting stuff, but it's a lot of noise for a thread that is supposed to be about Wikipedia articles.

+1 as someone who lurks this thread. The podcast sounds great and I bookmarked it but just don't have the time at the moment. Seems like there's enough interest for it to have its own thread though.

Most people probably know of John Cage's 4'33", a composition where the musicians don't play their instruments at all for that length of time.

He also composed a piece called As Slow As Possible that a 1997 conference decided should take 639 years to perform to completion (in 2640), and with the next change of note scheduled for September 2020.

The most iconic picture in the 20th century, imo.

You must see a picture of here eyes up close, they are unbelievable.

The story is sad, and has many twists and turns, just read it, it's short.

You realize the Weinsteins own way more than that specific company, no?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Weinstein

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Weinstein

Peter Biskind wrote a great book about them and their influence on the industry, Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance and the Rise of Independent Film (https://www.amazon.com/Down-Dirty-Pi...dp/0684862581/)

Her eyes don't look that insane to me, but most of my family has hazel eyes - mix of brown, blue and green.
