These are examples of why a city isn't racist?

"I voted for Obama" is like the #1 thing a racist person who didn't want to be perceived as racist would say. It's the new, "I have a black friend."

lol at you for stereotyping an entire city and over half a million people. You don't teach that stuff to our impressionable youth, do you?

No, Willfully Obtuse Dids. Those are three examples of why Boston isn't the #1 racist ****hole in USA#1 that a lot of dullards often speak of.

Hope this clears things up, but I know it won't WOD.

27,

Those items have absolutely nothing to do with why a city would not be the #1 racist ****hole in USA#1. But they do seem to be things that a city desperate to not be seen as a racist ****hole might point out - "Hey guys. We cheer for blacks!"

FWIW - I have no idea how racist or not Boston is. I just know I can't stand driving there. I did have a nice time when I visited the USS Constitution, though.

People that only count proper city limits in the population piss me off. Do you consider Fort Worth and Memphis to be larger than Boston? Somebody from Denver or wherever never thinks that way. When people cite a city they are usually referring to the msa or csa.

There are racist idiots everywhere. Some people need to stop drinking the ESPN cool aid.
I'm pretty sure that was due to BU and all the other college students/profs living there

Maybe it's different now but from 91-96 I experienced little old ladies crossing the street or clutching their purse. and of course racist white guys, but only in groups of 8+

Ok, Fine - Nuke Boston. LA should just be torched, like London in 1666 or The Great Chicago Fire, 1871.

Actually I agree. “Boston” should encompass all surrounding towns, but I didn’t want to be accused of hyperbole.

True Story: Up until my freshman year in college when I read the word ‘hyperbole’ I read it as “hyper-bowl” in my mind until one day doh it dawned on me.

You know, I actually like the idea that a whole bunch of liberal elitists voted for him simply to prove they were not racist.

And for the record, I didn't vote for him, so I'm sure that makes me a racist in somebody's eyes and I don't GAF.

Tom Yawkey hasn't owned the Red Sox in more than a generation, and current ownership has the City's support in erasing his name from anything Red Sox.

So if I started a thread in OOT asking about what is the difference between, say, the magnetic poles and the geographic poles on Earth - eventually the thread would devolved into a debate/discussion about racism and/or racist food items, or who you voted for in the last presidential election?

I suppose I could conduct such an experiment in OOT but since I let the cat out of the bag it would not be a valid one.

Bola bola would be the general term for a meatball in the Philippines and, hey, it looks like the truck is run by a couple where the wife is Filipina.

People mention sports, but I associate Boston's legacy of racism mostly with the opposition to desegregation.
