Assuming it's high enough to destroy the cage, bird gets squished too. He will be falling as fast as the cage. It's not like Bugs Bunny stepping out of a rocket a millisecond before it impacts the ground.

Obv depends on size of bird, size of cage, and height of roof, but generally it dies.

A small flying bird should be able to maintain a relative position in a falling cage, and survive. It's not like 5 falling people in an elevator.

But yes, if the cage crushes into a pulp upon impact, then so will the bird.

Couple thoughts;

- Angry Americans do crazier things while in fits of rage
- What % of people get the answer correct? It's gotta be less than 50.
- Can the NSA identify which caged bird is currently at the greatest risk?

- have another thought that I must keep private. However, I'd bet some are thinking similar.
