I think the main reason that this function hasn't been implemented in the site is that they want to promote and maintain a positive image. Plus, it's probably similar to the idea of the social etiquette where you put on a fake image when you go out with friends. You know, the one where everything in your life is in order and when people try to make small talk you BS your way through it as you finish your drink.
On a smaller scale it's like when you see an acquaintance and they stop to say hi they ask, "how is life?" What are you say? "Same old. Everything's fine. What about you?" What, are you really gonna bitch and moan complaining to this guy how you're stressed at work, you have debts up the ass, and the wife has been giving more **** as of late? Obviously, not. You're just gonna put on the fake "everything's cool" image.
In the same vein nobody wants that negative **** on FB with that one guy hating on everything. It makes things unpleasant.
