I love how this is phrased. "Updating me about their kids." That right there is the core flaw with the premise behind every crappy post in this thread—the funny, lunatic updates aside. Expecting people to tailor their status updates to humor you (who probably falls in the periphery of the circle of 300 friends they've got on there) rather than primarily themselves and their immediate family and close friends who are actually involved and have regular real-life contact with the updater.

You've got a dozen female friends who don't post anything else on FB except stuff about their kids? Either readjust your understanding of what's important right now in the lives of these so-called "friends" of yours, or accept that you no longer care about what they're going through and block them.

Yeah updating me, and everyone else on their friends list, via facebook. I didn't mean they were writing it for ME. LOL at your narcissist interpretation.

I wouldn't be friends with these people if they weren't interesting and fun IRL. When their FB personality becomes the annoying 'FB mom' who almost exclusively posts inanities with the very odd actually interesting update, yeah I will consider blocking them.

Same chick obv. She posts 3 things a day that combine X + her wedding that have nothing to do with eachother. Please. Kill. Yourself.

See, that sounds reasonable and I feel dickish for conveniently misreading you and going off on a rant, then Cosines11 posts what look to me like utterly sane status updates as though he's struck gold and is so justified in being sarcastic and saying "Please kill yourself" and it just acts like AIDZ on my brain and I really, really need never to open this thread again.

The first one is pretty straightforward...she mentions an "incident" that happened to one of her friends without giving any idea as to what actually happened. Begging people to ask "omg what happened?" "everything ok????"

The second one needs to be read with the description...but I think it stands alone as being pretty narcissistic.

If you don't see what's idiotic about the first post he quoted you're either an attention whore or an idiot.

But if you never open this thread again, you probably won't be missed.

Gross. Why would anyone broadcast this? HEY EVERYBODY I ATE **** LOL FML. Yes, **** your life.

My wife's cousin posts a lot of junk about his kids but he's actually a really cool guy. The other day he posted "picking up [his son's name] from G.T. school I noticed the classroom hasn't changed much in ___ years"

GT = "gifted and talented". It's what 65% of kids are these days. They are all unique snowflakes and future doctors.

I'm agreeing that some of the last few examples aren't that bad and aren't that entertaining to read.

As a small-town sportswriter, I also can tell you they're all future Major League Baseball All-Stars ... God I hate Little League season.

Wow that's stupid. Is he basically trying to broadcast the fact that not only is his son in the GT program, but he was as well? **** that.

Nah I don't think they had the program way back then. He was saying that his son had the same actual classroom that he did back in the early '80s. But he definitely threw in the "G.T. school" as opposed to just "school".

He's actually one of the nicest, coolest dudes I know though. I'll let it slide. I was mostly just pointing out that I have a dad on my feed who talks up his kids.

How old is he? I'm 30 and the school I went to for 6th grade had GT (no I wasn't in it, shocker I know).

Anyway, "GT school" is definitely stupid.

What part of early '80s don't you understand? Stop derailing the thread. The dude is like 36 years old. I don't think they had it when he went there but even if they did, he wouldn't have been in it. And the point he was trying to get across wasn't "me and my son both are gifted and talented". You are awful at this thread dude.

either you're close enough to the person to have enough empathy to tolerate what it's like for them to raise a toddler and their impulse to share their experience of it on FB (and probably 80% of all of their conversations IRL, which is FARKING NORMAL BEHAVIOR for new parents), or you calmly block the person from your feed and stop being flabbergasted that humans are human
One of my cousins gf is like 8 weeks preggo and she posts at least 10 updates a day and about 9 of them are about the pregnancy. Pretty weird. Standard I guess. (Doesn't bother me at all just adding an anecdote)

Wait people posting annoying facebook statuses in a thread about annoying facebook statuses? Who would have thought!? If only we had a middle-aged sensitive soul like Lagdonk to tell us how to block these people before hand. Thank you, white knight! Thank you for protecting us and the new mothers of facebook in one fell swoop of your gloved hand.
