I think it's just easier than having to try and spell. There is a strong correlation between phonetic spelling and level of education.

I think some of the worst statuses lately have been the regular gym goers complaining or being condescending towards "all the new people that will show up for a few weeks then quit". I have seen a lot of these lately. I mean they are probably correct but it's just being a douche to point out that you are at the gym all the time and now these poor fat people are taking up your space trying to better themselves.

also someone just posted a status bitching about all the things we bitch about in this thread and how people are so **** dumb and some guy responded "People will believe anything they want...and the British suck"- George Washington

He was, the use of extra letters when they weren't needed gave the game away, although it still represents the manner in which he vacated surely, as opposed to getting the top score in darts.
