You're mostly right about the tax thing, but sometimes going over a certain income amount causes you to no longer qualify for certain deductions/exemptions/credits and you end up making less money than you would with lower income.

I think the point is everyone is outraged about the kidnap and torture, however when trump made fun of a disabled person's disability because he's a douchetool, trump supporters didn't really mind. Obviously the two things are on opposite ends of the scale, and are not equivalent, but they are on the same scale I think.
