I would have went for the blueberry since I've never had a blueberry ice cream before. Curious what you think of the Talenti Black Raspberry. Heard that was good too.

Read yesterday B+J have a 7 Layer Bar ice cream floating around out there! :drool Haven't had any ice cream in 6 days = (.

Go for the fruit based flavors first as there will be more sublety there than the rocky road.

If you have the rocky road first, you won't taste as much in the other 2.

That looks disgusting... and yet, I'm intrigued.

I'm assuming that, if I try a poor man's version with cheap ingredients... I'd be scarred for life?

yes. especially on the balsamic vinegar and ice cream portion.

The Sea salt and the olive oil you can go middle of the road and it won't be too bad.

You're missing a palate-cleansing sorbet, I think.

Given the limitations displayed... left to right, if you're sampling all 3. If you're going to wipe out one at a time, and not in the same binge.... doesn't matter much, but I'd go alobar-method 3-1-2 (blue, rocky, mix, to be clear)

I am in fact finishing a carton before moving onto the next one. I tried the blueberry first last night and then had it on blueberry waffles w/ fresh cherries this morning.

The Moorenko's is supposed to be amazing or whatever, but it tasted "icier" rather than "creamier"... The flavor is very good and you can clearly tell it has the ultra-premium ingredients, but I guess I don't like the texture as much.

Eating some Pineapple - Coconut Dreyers right now. The ice cream itself has the consistency and flavor of Cool Whip. It is INCREDIBLE for the unrefined palate.

I just bought some Stephen Colbert Americone Dream because I saw his picture on the label. I didn't read what was in it.

so i contacted moorenko's and they said they ship their ice cream out (i'm assuming packed in dry ice)!!!

have some peppermint stick, salted carmel, strawberry, lychee (sorbet) and cotton candy gummy bear on the way.

very excited (tho the last review that said it was icier rather then creamy was a lil off-putting as i def prefer my ice cream to be on the creamy side, but oh well still looking forward to it.

will report back after it arrives.

I haven't gotten a price quote yet.... I emailed them asking how I could get some and they replied they could send me some so I sent them back my order preference and am waiting to hear back on a price.
will give full updates as I can, including price, shipping costs and delivery time.

I'm in the general DC area and I may have to look these guys up.

Snap call first choice would be Cookie Overload for me.

I tried the Talenti Pistachio flavor yesterday.

The pistachio and sea salt caramel are without a doubt the best so far, I'm considering ordering the egg nog online now.

Went to Stop and Shop so I could try out the Talenti Sorbetto hoping they would have some Roman Raspberry but all they had was gelato in the freezer. I wound up walking out with some Ciao Bella Blood Orange sorbet instead. Woulda grabbed a pint of SSC but I gotta watch calories for a lil bit and have no self control when its in my presence.

So,

I kinda want to get one each of all the salted caramels I have access to and do a taste test, but I don't really have the discipline to not just eat it all.

was sad to find out my kroger doesn't carry the talenti salted carmel or peanut butter cup. ended up with Mediterranean mint and double dark chocolate. The ice cream itself was really good, but i was sooooo disappointed in the little chocolate pieces in each one. It was that really waxy chocolate that doesn't melt in your mouth well and leaves a weird film.

so i originally placed an order for 5 pints with moorenkos and just got an email back from them saying it would be $125 but most of that was shipping cost and the container they used could hold 8 pints so if i wanted to maximize shipping i could add 3 more pints.

however they didn't list a price for that so i'm unsure if they're saying if i add 3 more pints it will be the same cost or if they are going to charge me for the additional pints.

waiting to hear back.
i think the right thing for them to do in this situation from a customer service standpoint is to offer me the 3 additional pints at the same cost.

even so it works out to about $15 per pint....am i insane to pay that much for ice cream?

is this stuff worth it?

It can't be THAT special. There is great local ice cream all over the country. Try out 25-30 pints of local ice cream for the same price and I bet you'll find some that is as good or better.

I don't recall ever having had gelato really so don't know how it's different from ice cream except for what wikipedia says, but the Talenti I bought is much better than the Moorenko's.

TBH the Moorenko's reminds me of Breyer's, although the "milk, cream, sugar, vanilla" Breyer's, not the frozen dairy dessert bull**** they have now...

Rbk,

For comparison's sake, super fancy ice cream in sf (bi rite and humphry slocombe) is like $8 a pint. This incredible gelato from new york is $105 for 4x20oz (=5 pints) overnighted. http://www.laboratoriodelgelato.com/order.php

Paying $125 for 5-8 pints of ice cream people buy at Whole Foods seems absurd.
