I have no idea if you are serious or not, but to answer your question: I work in TV. I focus on U.S. distribution strategy, and our portfolio of TV networks are fully distributed throughout the country across many viewing platforms (cable, satellite, telco, mobile, online etc). So we have clients all over the place.

After a deal gets signed, or we've done something that makes us a good partner, they will occasionally hook us up with random stuff like awesome regional ice cream (the company that sent us Graeter's is HQ'ed in Cincinnati).

I wonder if there's something to the bolded part in that the first gelato you try in Italy is the one you like the best? We'll try Blue Ice whenever we get back over there.

When I bump this thread in 10 years, it's going to be awesome.

I can't tell the difference between Haagen Daz chocolate and their chocolate from the 5 line. Both are very good obv.

I can't stand people's obsession with Ben and Jerry's. Great they put a bunch of ****ing gummi bears or something in it, the ice cream part is still infinitely inferior to Haagen Daz. Also their brownies taste like ****.

http://www.thebentspoon.net/BENTSPOON/home.html I've eaten at The Bent Spoon in before. You guys would love it it's super tiny and kinda run down, in the hip part of town, there's always a huge line and they even serve ice cream. They've been mentioned in like every NJ magazine as well as The Times and a few other bigtime places. It was pretty good, idk, Coldstone is about as amazing as it gets for ice cream in my experience.

While we're at it, wtf is dreyer's ice cream. I'm at Wal-Mart the other day getting dinner which ended up being a half gallon of ice cream and I see this Dreyer's ****.

First of all, it isn't ice cream. Second, it has a label really similar to Breyer's which is ice cream. It's all those "radical" flavors that I love which are basically every candy and sweet thing thrown in ice cream and swirled around.
First ingredient was whey or something like that. It freaked me out so I didn't get it.

Do you guys have that **** in non close-to-Mexico areas? I've never seen it in CT or NY.

I've been on an ice cream/gelato binge for little while now and here's what I've been ****ing with lately. Have a hard time ranking them but probably goes as follows.

Shocked this thread hasn't seen any action since 2010. Got my top 2 in the freezer just waiting for me to devour them in a few hours.

And here I was expecting an ice cream vs. gelato thread.

Sun Groves orange/vanilla ice-cream in Clearwater, FL. It's a citrus farm and they use fresh oranges to make the ice-cream, really good.

yeah, the Talenti sea salt caramel has been mentioned in other threads, definitely a GOATish store-bought ice cream/gelato

Is this Talenti stuff good? I see it every time I go to the grocery store and look at the ice cream case (~ weekly occurrence) but it's price per pint is more than the price for half-gallon for every single other brand. Guess I'll just need to pull the trigger sometime, because it can't hurt to have less ice cream around the house as I can occasionally lose it and eat way too much.

Saw this at Target, but was having to go to some other places so purchasing it at the time wasn't practical. They don't have it at my local grocery store, but I think I'm going to have to go back and get it because I don't know how it couldn't be phenomenal. Anyone had it?

Haagen Dazs raspberry sorbet has become my go-to after dinner snack. I simply cannot get myself out the door of Target these days without a carton or two. It is light and refreshing, and strikes just the right balance between tart and sweet.

The new limited batch B&J Rocky Roadish ice cream is the first time I've ever eaten a pint of ice cream in one day. It's this incredible marshmallow ice cream with toasted marshmallow swirl and chocolate covered almonds.

That samoa ice cream is terrible. I love samoas and was pretty excited the first time I saw it. The bits of samoa are few and far between and the ice cream is the same crappy consistency as the rest of edy's offerings except it's got a funny taste(probably because it's light ice cream which I don't recall seeing when I bought it).

I'd guess there's less than 2 samoas in the entire half gallon

Or you could just get, ya know, Chocolate Marshmallow Ice Cream, which is swirled and blended properly. Turkey Hill makes one that's pretty damn good. Also, in my neck of the woods, TH makes an all-natural Philly style ice cream -- just basic flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Coffee, maybe a Neapolitan, I think -- that's really good.

I haven't had the Snickers that Breyer's makes, but they've got a bangin' relative that's called Waffle Cone something or other that's also got a caramel swirl and chocolate chips. Yum. Also, if you're into the whole have-your-cake-and-eat-it-in-your-ice-cream, too, crowd, Breyer's has a Birthday Blast that has Oreo's in it. I haven't had it, but I've heard good things. FYI though, it's not real ice cream, rather "dairy dessert."

I'm not a fan of Edy's, but they do make a Vanilla Sandwich flavor which sounds like what you're describing.

Rolo Ice Cream sounds awesome. I know caramel is great in ice cream, and chocolate makes it sound even better. And yes, we do have Smarties in the States, but I've never seen it in ice cream form.

The Talenti's is super-expensive, so I've never tried it either. Guess I'll have to give it a shot when I see it on sale (think it was like $6/pint ). The Samoa Ice Cream is pretty good. Had it when I was stoned one night, so my opinion may be skewed. It's just a seasonal thing, I believe. I was likewise excited when I saw it, as I'm a fan of the Girl Scout Cookie and I also like coconut. I was not severely let down.

It's damn good. I pick it up at my local Stop and Shop for $3.99/pint. It's only like .40 more expensive than B+J. I'll admit I've only tried 3 flavors of Talenti and they only offer something like 12 flavors of gelato/sorbet but anybody considering Talenti needs to start out with the Sea Salt Caramel then the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup which is amazing too. Skip the Caramel Cookie Crunch imo. I think Talenti is better than almost all of B+J's offerings.

That Edy's stuff is garbage and made by that Dreyers company 175503 was talking about above.

I'm on a diet... but now I'm gonna go to the grocery store and try a few brands out, I'm curious.

Hopefully it will work out better than last time.

No good.

Unfortunately the Caramel Cookie Crunch will not impress after eating Sea Salt Caramel. I only ate one pint of the CCC and haven't been back since.

Jeni's (mainly Columbus, OH) seems to be expanding pretty rapidly. More exotic type flavors than you find in stores (for the most part), but definitely the best collectively good brand that I've had. Expensive as **** though, think pints are in the $9-$10 range at most supermarkets.

Local place near me bought a ton of doughnuts from a really good bakery, made their own coffee ice cream and blended those sonofabitches together. I'm not much of an ice cream guy but holy crap it was amazing.

I'm a sucker for ice cream, it's one of the few things I have a very hard time resisting (so we don't keep it in the house that often).

Cookies and Cream is my go-to flavor. I'd be hard pressed to pick a go to brand, I don't know of a regional darling around here. I've always heard great things about Blue Bell and have always been pissed I can never find it.

In general I tend to prefer basic flavors. I had plain vanilla ice cream with mixed berries more than any other desert on the cruise ship. Also had gelato (vanilla, strawberry and stratiatella in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Ravenna and Venice, Italy, respectively) a couple of times.

It's not technically ice cream, but frozen custard is about the most wonderful thing on this planet.

Also, Snickers Ice Cream bars are more delicious than they have any right to be.

Smarties in Canada are closer to M&Ms and nothing like Smarties in the States. I doubt you will be able to find the Smarties ice cream being referred to here. Though IMO you aren't missing much.

I don't really get why Texas grocery stores carry anything but Blue Bell, as buying other brands should be grounds for removal from the GOAT state.
