The fat ladies on MFP talk about Halo Top in hushed reverential tones.

Bump.

Just recently discovered this thanks to daryn and it is incredible. I basically never buy ice cream for home because god knows I don't need it, but if I eat half a pint for 100 calories it's pretty ****ing absurd and the taste is delicious. Why are people hating? I get mine at Smiths for $5 a pint.

LOL, I just read the quoted post and I had meant to write "does not suck". I see now why the first response to my post was what it was.

this stuff is pretty good, mainly the chocolate based flavors. The pistachio didn't have much nutty goodness. $5 at kroger.

Imuraya mochi ice cream at Costco is solid. About as good as Mikawaya and others I've had from Japanese grocery stores. Not as good as high-end ice cream, but they're tasty little treats.

Breyer's recently introduced Breyer's delights to compete in this space. The cookies and cream was pretty good.

For a super premium prepackaged ice cream, Jenis is pretty hard to beat.

The dark chocolate is the best dark chocolate I have had and on par with my favorite local gelato joint.

It is pricy at $10 a pint but its a worthy splurge, at least for the dark chocolate. The whiskey pecan was good but not $10 good.

Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Roll Halo Top are fantastic, no need to consume excess calories of Ben and Jerry's

I tried two or three Halo Top pints and found all of them pretty inferior. For low calorie I just go with one of the fruit bars, they are like crack to me and only 60 cal a pop. For ice cream I’m going to go full fattie and get the good stuff.

Damn that's a lot of Caffeine. Now that I know this, I can no longer knock off a pint (14 oz) of Häagen-Dazs' coffee ice cream after dinner. I've been hitting it hard lately, and my sleep has been all clucked up.

"In a ½ cup serving of Häagen-Dazs' coffee ice cream, you'll get 21.6 mg of caffeine. For perspective, that's a little more than ¼ cup of brewed coffee. A full 14 oz carton is 75.6 mg, or about the same as a cup of Coffee. The Espresso Chocolate Cookie Crumble doesn't have much more caffeine—23 mg per serving and 80.5 mg per carton."

In the classic Ben & Jerry's Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz, there is 45 mg caffeine per ½ cup serving, and 180 mg per pint. So if you down the whole thing in one go, you'll have the equivalent of a little more than two cups of java.

Today is National Ice Cream Day

https://nationaltoday.com/national-ice-cream-day/

I celebrated by having a pint (14 oz) of Häagen-Dazs Strawberry and bought a 1.5 quart container of Tillamook Mudslide for the freezer.

Had a throwback yesterday that really hit the spot:

So good. I used to grab one of these from the ABC store while playing at PHo, 10-12 years ago.

Whole Foods near me sells this. It’s ****ing awesome. It is the best chocolate ice cream I’ve bought at a store.

No idea what it costs. I got in early on cryptodickbutts, I don’t look at price tags anymore.

Best part about haagen dazs is how rich and thick it is, but it takes 5 minutes for the **** to warm up enough from the freezer just to get a spoon in there.

You could take a walk around the block and get in some pre-ice cream exercise. Some calories out before you do calories in!

Are they still pretending the pint isn't also the serving?

Apparently, they are still pretending a pint is 14 oz.

Or you could put the haagen dazs pint (14 oz) in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds.

It doesn't bother me too much. I look at it as I'm saving two ounces worth of calories.

My employer decided to celebrate National Ice Cream Day by offering all of us remote workers ice cream!

(I bought my own ice cream because I despise our expense reimbursement system and wasn't going to subject myself to it for a ten dollar refund, but I thought it was a fun idea and I support their attempts to make us feel included.)

I decided to revisit my childhood: old fashioned vanilla ice cream and some Mug root beer. (A&W would have been better but the store was out! Heathens!!)

I've said this before, but a root beer float really does make the day better. Our Employee Activity Committee used to 'sponser' RB float days during our hot months, pre 'Rona, when we were at the office. Nothing since WFH :-(
