This. And there definitely seems to be something more to this story that you aren’t telling us. First, “money is no object” yet you feel the need to rent out what you originally called a room in your house but now it has evolved into the whole downstairs living area. If you’re really swimming in cash, why take the risk of renting multiple times to random strangers when you have kids in your house? Second, you say you’ve been doing this for years yet, for some unknown reason, this time you decided to rent to someone who doesn’t fit your typical renter profile. Why? What was it about her that made you decide to do that? Third, if you’ve been doing this for years and the tenants have a separate entrance, shouldn’t you have established firm ground rules by now that inform your tenants they aren’t allowed upstairs at all? Why have you allowed her to break those rules? Fourth, why are you overreacting to this extreme? So you have a tenant who tells stories you don’t believe. So what? Why do you think she’s dangerous?

To be honest, I see only three explanations: either you’re lying and there really is no such tenant and this is a troll thread, there’s way more to this changing story that you aren’t sharing for whatever reason, or you’re just a despicable excuse for a landlord and I hope she finds this thread and sues you for all you’re worth given your unwarranted discrimination.

I think what's bothering people here is that many of us has known or knows mentally ill people. They may have been roommates, family, significant others, coworkers, and even possibly some of the posters ITT.

It seems like you are overreacting based on some quasi-idea that this new tenant may or may not be schizophrenic, and you aren't qualified to make this diagnosis. Schizophrenia is not only rare, but extremely difficult for even mental professionals to properly diagnose. As an example, the mask test that supposedly can't fool schizophrenics only works for 30% of them, and thus it is only one of many items used in the overall diagnosis, which can take months, if not years to complete. The point is that you are reaching directly for one of the "worst" mental illnesses to describe someone that, for all indications, you think is a bull****ter, which is a far cry from being absolutely delusional. Delusion is, once again, an indicator for many forms of mental illness, and not exclusive to the top-dog range of mental illness, and certainly not a mental illness in itself. She doesn't really sound that delusional, just prefers to date doctors and lawyers. Big woop, I like to date women that weigh less than 700 lbs, so I guess I have some serious delusions too, right?

So, yes, you are definitely overreacting by labeling someone with this disease. You are also overreacting by thinking that someone with this disease (or any mental illness) is prone to violence, which is, once again, not based in fact.

Even if she does have mental illness, the struggles in her life are very real. If she is holding down a job, paying rent, and generally living a normal-ish life, she is doing incredible work vs insane odds that you really have no clue about, and instead of celebrating this person, you kick her to the curb (speaking of insane odds).

You are making wild and unsubstantiated claims to people who's seen others attempt normalcy through a wide variety of mental and physical life struggles, and now painting people with possible mental illnesses as unsafe, dangerous, boogy-men and -women.

You come across very ignorant here, not only about mental illness, but about being a landlord. I don't feel bad for telling you how to get rid of her with little pain because it's definitely going to be better for her. I hope you educate yourself before you start renting again.

the wife and kids story was fabricated to redirect the blame for why he was kicking her out. but i have a feeling the 'only dates up' comment was true, hence this thread. the unsolved mystery is how mentally ill this woman was and what having sex with her was like.

I’m guessing she’s not mentally ill at all and that was also fabricated. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hooked up with her and wanted to have a relationship with her. She declined because she knew OP is a lying dbag and he made this thread hoping someone would give him ideas on how he can kick her out without breaking the law. We all knew something about this story wasn’t adding up.
