i mean....... there's been an added risk for your family since you started renting out the rooms. being scared for them suddenly because a tenant thinks she was in the movies...yeesh.

is she actually not mentally ill and did you have an affair? cus that would be a lot more reasonable.

She does not have to disclose that and wanting to kick somebody out immediately because they are a little bit crazy is pretty low.

That said, if it’s that important to you, offer her 10k. I doubt she would refuse that.

Otherwise, why don’t you move your family to a hotel until the legal process is finished?

Is she still that crazy if you really are out to get her?

What has she done that is so upsetting to you? Can you tell her you are being foreclosed on and thought you had more time, but that you will be locked out within X amount of time? Even if she comes around a few months from now asking why you are still there you can say you worked out a last minute payment plan with the mortgage company to get caught up.

Rent the rooms you and your family occupy and find yourself a new place with all that cash you've made over the years.

start a fire in her room, if you time it right, it wont burn the house down and the damage to the room will be less than the money you are trying to offer her

Im kinda on her side here tho tbh, if you are suddenly worried about your gf and kids, why did you rent a room to someone with apparently no references? Unless shes done something more than be crazy in the way your describe, get over it and boot her out correctly. Put your gf and kids in a motel i guess, and do a better job vetting people on your month to month rental in the future.

Whatever you do, get a lawyer. This situation could turn into a huge issue for you given the tone of your posts in this thread.

Who's crazy in this situation, the guy running a flop house with his wife and kids living there or the tenant who just wants to rent a room?

waterwolves - you have not provided anywhere near adequate detail on the crazy to justify expending the effort to help you, so you get the absolute minimum.

If you are willing to ship $1500 to get her out, then just pay for two months of a room somewhere else and make her someone else's problem. Or check out the monthly rates (should be about $1500) for places like Extended Stay America, etc, and tell her you'll pay for her to have a free place to stay for 1-2 months and all her money back, but only if she leaves right now.

And this is exactly why you don't do a lease in writing for this, locking them in when u have to live with them, without knowing if it will be a good fit. Month to month with nothing in writing is best for this, you just need to be rather good at vetting people. If they didn’t have a lease agreement to fall back on, they don't even have normal tenant rights since they're living in an owner-occupied dwelling and they're considered lodgers. U can basically tell them to gtfo at any moment for any reason how severe without putting up with delay (unrealistic)....so typically best for 30 day notice and endure the bull****.

#1 lesson just better off living alone. Unless you're that money hungry to put up with this kind of thing.

Is it common for people to rent out rooms to complete strangers when they have kids living in the house?
Unless these are adult kids we're talking about (in which case LOL) that just seems incredibly dumb to me.

FFS think about the type of person who would agree to rent a room in that setting. No wonder you're in this spot

I would never assume this without first checking one's own state's landlord-tenant laws.

I've done it for 6-7 years and had only a few minor issues. Maybe i just ran good idk. I've actually met some awesome people doing it and have enjoyed it for the most part.

She's just a pathological liar. Everything she says seems to be a lie. She said she almost died from internal bleeding because her employer didn't provide the right chair and keyboard for her.

She also said she only dates doctors and lawyers. She won't date anything less.
