WTF you little weasel? This is why we can't have nice things. It's one thing to try and invalidate other bets by calling them "practice" like I did in the TurkeyCap. This, however was the most Babs thing I've seen in a long time.

This. Running the office pool is done because it's fun and it can be rotated amongst participants. You don't deserve or need a tip for doing it. If you want a tip for doing it, it's probably because you're a skevey little douche bag. If you need the tip you shouldn't be participating anyway. If anyone thinks they deserve a tip for being honest in collecting, holding and distributing prize money for a friendly contest than **** that person I don't want them around the money at all.


Everyone wants to stick their hand out for any effort these days instead of doing something just because it was fun or cool to do.

I didn't see "America the Beautiful/This Land is Your Land" on the list of available bets. Did she even sing those songs, or just sing a line from them? I interpreted that as an introduction, but apparently singing a two-line excerpt from a song is equivalent to singing the whole song now. Judges? I guess I lost, what's new? Would be interested to hear a full explanation from one of the impartial judges. To me, I interpret it as the first full song she sung, from her list of available songs. She may not have sung all the verses, but she clearly went into the song and sang several lines, the chorus, etc. She did not clearly do this for "America the Beautiful" or whatever the first 15 seconds of the performance were.

If someone sings the first line of "The Star Spangled Banner" would you consider them having sung the song? Or just a line? Guess it comes down to semantics really, and I'll lose because I always lose, just seems a little shady this time. The judges are supposed to rule on situations that need clarification, and instead I'm threatened to be banned from future competitions? When I have a legit reason for grading "first song sung" as the first song she actually sung?

I don't know what the **** just happened here. If you think I'm seriously out pandering for tips for running a pool, one that I started, you're mistaken. However, if you think I'm going to reject someone throwing me a couple bucks because they're appreciative of the time it takes to make said pool run smoothly, you're also mistaken. Only time I'd withhold money from a pool I'm running is if I had to incur costs to run it. I ran two survivor pools this year online. I chose to use a particular pay site, because I've used the site before and I like it. Each pool cost me about $30. There are options for free sites as well, so since I made the choice to use a pay site, I didn't feel right making people pay an extra $1-$2 each to cover it. Some people, when they realized I absorbed the cost, wanted to reimburse me, and most told me to definitely take it out of the prize pool next year. I shipped the bigger of the 2 this year so it was whatever.

But yeah, taking a cut "for my time" is definitely lol worthy. I enjoy running pools(pickems, squares, survivors, fantasy football, etc) and feel I do a decent job. If the time ever comes I feel I NEED to be reimbursed for my time, I'll hand it off to someone else to run.
