Hopefully, we'll all be on the same team soon. One big happy family.
The day the DOJ approved the merger, a co-worker lamented to me, "Well, that's bad news for me."
"How could that be bad news for you?", I asked.
"I've got XM, and I'm a huge O+A fan," he explained.
"So?"
"So, Howard's going to be the big swinging d*ck at the new, combined company. He'll never stand for O+A to get any airtime."
I had to explain to this guy that there was no "feud" between the two shows. I know that O+A are constantly mentioning themselves in the same breath as Howard, but Howard never mentions them. When the topic is brought up, all Howard will say is, "I don't give a moment's thought to those guys--or to any other show, for that matter."
My co-worker was stunned to hear this. He was led to believe (by O+A) that Stern was their sworn enemy.
I wonder if people like Willie will be mad if Stern fans embrace O+A after the merger gets finalized. You *know* Howard will urge all his fans to support anyone on his team--he may even stop bashing Oprah.
