Listening to 1994 shows from thursday-sundays and when they are on vacation.

It is incredible what was relevant on the show in 2012 and they talked about in 1994.

Newt Ginrich is speaker of the house or something and they already goof on him about arbotion and him wanting to make praying in schools mandatory and rip him for his holier-than-though hypocrasy (cause he made his wife sign divorce-related papers while in the hospital for cancer).
Mitt Romney was running for governor in Massachusetts and comes up often in the news, lots of goofing there too.
Just yesterday I listened Robin read a newsstory about Playboy looking to find america's shockjock's hot girls and that Playboy approached Hot 97s own Lisa G...

(It's a great year to listen to, Howard running for governor, O.J., Jackie and Gary Puppet's first appearances, I can only recommend it)

I need to look into that. Stern show + OJ trial = gold, every time.

Howard, Robin, and Artie goofing on OJ being sentenced in the memorabilia heist trial NEVER gets old.

"Hello, Browns? Good news!"

Last night was Ferrall's last show on Howard 101. He's going to CBS Radio in January. Definitely going to miss that guy.

During one of the shows this week, I think Wednesday's, Howard just said 'Gangnam Styyyyyle' out of nowhere and I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes. Did anyone else hear this or remember what show/segment it was during?

He's been saying it a lot. Hard to pinpoint exactly which show you're talking about.

Everything George says about his life is true. He's a genuine, open, highly sexual man.

one of the best things about George is that he's simultaneously THE BEST announcer and THE WORST announcer, across all media, of all time.

I don't think I've ever heard him read an announce properly, once. it's like he never pre-reads any of it, and they're only like a paragraph each, max. he always gets the inflection wrong or just starts reading it in such an awkward tone that you completely lose all meaning of what he's been saying.

voice saves it, tho

I beat Fred AND Ken Jennings, playing along at home with Win Fred's Money (they each got 5/7, I got 6/7; in the extra round, I tied Ken's 4/7, but he prob got there quicker than me--but I still beat Fred's 3/7).

I often beat Fred at this. If any of you is a hot chick and wants to team up to try to Win Fred's Money, PM me.

Everyone says that when they play at home. Playing under pressure makes a difference.

Win Fred's Money was a great bit that hasn't been done for too long.

Oh, he doesn't make half that. May even be about 1/4th of that.

People WAY overestimate how much money can be made in radio. I remember Howard's press conference when his show got picked up in Cincinnati, he was chatting on air with the program director of the Cincy station. Guy said he was PD *and* working a DJ shift. Howard said, "Great, two paychecks!" The guy laughed. Howard was shocked. "What? You're working two jobs! You must be making, what, $60k year?"

"Not even close to that," was the answer.

Howard took this opportunity to warn the audience, "Don't go into radio! There's no money here!"

EDIT TO ADD: When I worked in the sportsbook in Vegas, we "brokered" an hour of airtime M-F from a small radio station WAAAAAAY up the dial. You can do it, too. For a small fee, you get an hour of airtime, and you can do a show about anything you want--poker, gardening, whatever. You can sell the ad time, or run your own ads. All the ads on this show were for the casino. The station will even help you produce and record your commercials.

Well, we hired two guys to co-host this call-in extravaganza. Want to know how much they were paid? $0. We paid them in buffet comps. Seriously. They literally would work for food. Oh, they were terrible at what they did, but they were clearly experienced, too.

When people hear my voice on a microphone (like when I'm running a poker tourney or whatever), they often tell me, "You should go into radio!"

If they only knew.

"Confident" may not be the right word. I'd make the line about pick'em. Maybe make Fred a small favorite, out of deference to his experience with the game and LM's point about performing under pressure.

But giving Fred a run for his money puts me miles ahead of just about everyone who has ever gone on there to play the game.
