Was listening to Tuesday's show and it was pretty ridiculous to hear Howard bagging on whatever the show Sharon Osborne was kicked off of was. He was saying how terrible it was that when they come back they won't even mention Sharon and will pretend nothing happened. Oh hey Howard, you mean exactly like you did with Brent and Shuli?

I haven't listened to this yet. Is it very spoilery for BCS? I haven't watched yet, planning on getting started on it pretty soon though.

I find Howie a pretty bad listen now. Listened to him for 30-ish years from the old DC-101 days in DC.

He is like a meme of all the **** he used to give other older DJs crap for back in the day.

His interviews are painful to listen to with him constantly interrupting his guests and shoehorning his therapy bullshit into EVERY SINGLE conversation. Every single thing is him projecting his own crap into other people's stories. It's actually pathetic. I try to listen to interesting interviews and they all devolve into Howie's moronic theories

He loves to bring on washed up musical artists that no one but him cares about. Never willing to listen to anything new or different unless the artists bend the knee.

And Robin....my god is she a comical farce.

I do still love the ball busting of Gary or Sal or JD.

But George Takei isn't funny

Sigh I wish it hadn't gotten so bad but it's unlistenable like 85% of the time

Sadly I agree. Every single interview is all about his daddy issues. Now they're all excited about it being Cocktober. LOL, every month is cocktober on the show now. Robin is not good at all and I wish she would go back to the background for most of the show until News Time for the last hour or so.

I miss Shuli and the wackpack, but I've tried listening to his podcast and it doesn't do much for me either. His producer seems really bad and they act like teenagers who just started smoking week with their getting high stuff. I only listened to his first few weeks though, so maybe it's gotten better, idk.

Stern maintaining his creative apex - or even creative average - after so many years, is an impossibility. Get over it.

yeah - I said similar a couple years ago itt. His interviews are good, just becuase guest open up - but he doesn't listen well - misses subtle comments they make because he's so busy projecting his crap on them. And how many damn times is he going to ask an actor/actress if they hooked up with their co-star in a film - just because he would try to? I really think I could do better with about two weeks of practice.

I think the problem is that compared to the skits he did in the 00's or 90's till now its different show, also his interviews are more "professional". im not bashing it im not saying one thing or the other but peopel who want the old stern that they used to get are upset and shouldnt watch teh show anymore, I think opie and anthony weren't great but they did some decent stuff that kind was picking up some slack of stern show with interviews and certain topics.

I understand howard wanted his show to change and hes talked about it before, for better or worse im okay with the change but im also not opposed to people who gripe and are disappointed at the new direction of his show the last 8+ years

also this is my theory but back then hi guests were way more open then they are now, maybe its due to PR being better and needed to be more guarded in our culture

but overall howard still gets the best interviews in the business,. he did then and still is now

It’s not that he’s changed. I understand that part. It’s that I don’t think his interviews are very good. God interviewers are god listeners and he is an awful listener imo.

He clearly does homework on his guests but his constant interruption and projection drives me bat **** crazy

I always thought that the "Howard is a great interviewer" thing was in-show propaganda, as I can't believe anybody outside of that circle can actually believe that Howard is some master interviewer. The interviews were excruciating to listen to and have only gotten worse with time.

Oh hey, random musician with whom I don't have any personal relationship. Did you know that there is no such thing as back pain? Did you read my best friend Dr. Sarno's book? Why haven't you read the book? Are you at least in therapy? Oh hey, do you remember this song? (Proceeds to play one of the most famous songs of all time). Do you remember this one?? etc etc.

It's schticky, it's boring, it's unfunny.

Donk Jr, the problem is he would ask questions that no other news source or anyone would ever dare quetions. he talked about **** peopel wanted to know, he extrapolated if they thought so and so was hot, who ****ed who, gossip.

like go listen to the rich ronin interview.

nowadays its a lot more common to ask "taboo" questions from certain other radio or outlets but he as the first. the cronin interview to this day is a great funny listen

what made Howard loads of fun with a guest was his spontaneity in the moment to ask a silly question or sorta turn the vector of the conversation. lol good listener with some formulaic response all calculated. "So what I gather from what you are saying....' errr

Anyone here think the show has gone downhill very fast since he’s out of the studio? I feel he drones about the same topics and they got rid of the news segment.

I felt when they were in the studio, the show was more organized and he was probably fed lines by Benji etc. I’ve listened since 2014 and it just seems really low quality content. I’ve heard that the show has been bad for a while but just seems like it’s really meh when they are out of office. Think it has to do with fact he’s old and not really too hungry. Think this is his last contract and he doesn’t really have any urge to be the best etc? I assume the show was way more organized prior to Covid when they actually had a staff in a studio and people had to produce. Just my thoughts.

Show is so bad lately, I find myself tuning to other things when I’m working during the day. I’ll take an interesting guest on joe rogan podcast or just random YouTube videos on sports, etc over the stern show today which is quite sad. I found the show very entertaining as a way to kill time when working years back but not anymore.

I think the show is near the best it's ever been lol. The produced bits like asking JD what he thinks about stuff are home runs. The George Takei impersonator is A+. Cutting Robin's news out of the show was a good decision.

Are you kidding or not? I actually think the George takes impersonator is hilarious. I thought people hated those repeating bits.

I love when he rings his bell and yells “Brad”. It’s hilarious and always makes me laugh.
