How to remove posts from the dirty How to remove posts from the dirty

For those who don't know, the dirty is an online site where people can litterly take your picture and submit it along with a caption. It can be complete bull but it happens. This happened to a guy friend of mine who is a bit of an idiot. Nevertheless the stuff posted about him is untrue. Seeing how he's mildly ******ed I thought I'd try and help him fix it so when he gets googled thedirty is not the #1 hit.

Naturally I figured OOT was the best way to ask this question to - does anyone have experience with this site? what actually works? There are 'online management' consultant sites that specialize in post removal but they cost over $2500 (LOL) and that's bull****. I'm truly wondering what his options are.

(In b4 guy friend is OP. It's actually not but I told him I'd help him out)

I think there are too many long running threads. It drives so much new content into those very narrow channels. If you want more original new threads, close a bunch of the big monster threads.

There was one about a guy who is not a well behaved employee and can't figure out why he's not getting promotions. I thought that one was OK.

I don't think he wants more original new threads. We've got plenty of that. I think all he wants is one or two decent ones on occasion.

I know the reason to that and it's only going to get worse.

Mccraiger, you have to post a link the what you need removed. After we get it removed a mod deletes the link and posts, thats why you dont see any other links here.

Organize with other victims of this trash site and get a Class action lawsuit for defamation of character... easy game.

Or you just find out who owns the site, cut their head off and stick it on a spike so your enemies know what the game is, either one.

This might be the worst possible thing to do. The result would be a bunch of lawyers get rich, and the publicity from the lawsuit would only draw more attention to the site, and the specific posts of the plaintiffs. See: The Barbara Streisand Effect.

Probably your best option is to submit a DMCA takedown request for the image of your "friend", claiming that you took the photo of your "friend" and you own the rights to it. When you go to the site there's a menu in the upper left corner, click copyright, and there's instructions. This should at least provide your "friend" with plausible deniability if anyone ever googles his name and asks him if that post was referring to him. This will work better if your "friend" has a common name.

If the DMCA doesn't work, the next best thing would be to increase your "friend's" web presence in order to get the link to the post on the dirty as far down the google results as possible. Have your "friend" purchase domain names of his name, like firstnamelastname.com/.net/.org. Have him start a blog or three on wordpress or whatever other crappy blog sites people use these days. Make sure his real name is all over it, but don't reveal any other personal info on the sites. Have him create social media profiles in his real name, but without pics of him anywhere on them. LinkedIn, FB, twitter, youtube, etc.

If he has a very common name and the link to the dirty post isn't even in the first 3-4 pages of google results for his name, I might not even bother doing any of this.

If the post still shows up on the first few pages of google results for his name, it could absolutely still affect his ability to get a job or relationship.
