LOL @ not just using a new towel for each shower, but thinking it is
necessary.

Because it is wet and damp things are a breeding ground for bacteria.
I'm a biologist and I would say
1) the negligible number of bacteria on your towel are absolutely zero threat unless you have AIDS
2) from an immunological perspective, most people's hygiene habits are already
too sterile, and yours are even worse than that, so clearly you are not worried about health reasons in the first place.
Come the **** on guys, I 100% approve of showering and changing underwear/towels/sheets all the time, but LOL if you think every bit of the extent that most people seem to do it is still for health reasons. All hygiene procedures exceeding some point which most people in the modern developed world would find pretty gross is done entirely for psychological reasons. I totally approve of these psychological reasons, but please don't be silly and believe it's actually to avoid infectious bacteria lol.

I was told not to re-use my towels by a dermatologist for the same reason Henry mentioned.
What's your condition? I can only see this recommendation making sense to avoid constantly re-infecting yourself with something you already have.
