Yes.

Do you use a towel more than once?

I got into a debate over this with the other side making the argument that it is just water and you are clean so a towel should be fine for multiple uses while I argue that a towel can only be used once.

Clearly you are just saying this now to cover up the fact that you are a wobbly fat ass.

I would like to use a new towel every time I shower but don't since I do my own laundry and would hate to have to do it more often than I do now. I use two different towels to dry myself every time I shower though.

Off topic but that reminds me of how GoT (I think?) wears a brand new pair of socks every day....another thing I would like to do.

During the winter, I probably drop down to 2 showers every 3 days or so. I have pretty dry skin and showering seems to make it worse.

I would be real uncomfortable if I took 2/day.

Not changing underwear is ridiculous to me.

Washing legs is not really necessary.

Using a towel more than once is standard? I launder my 4 towels every 2-3 weeks.

Except that the joke in question was about girls needed to take 3 showers a day.

I was told not to re-use my towels by a dermatologist for the same reason Henry mentioned.

If you hang up your towel there is no reason you can't use it for the second shower in a day, IMO. No bacteria you are getting on a towel in 6 hours is going to harm you unless you had leprosy to begin with. I do not understand how people can use the same towel for 2 showers spread across days, though. I find it icky.

Wow, that's crazy to me. I once read that you can use the same towel for a week without having to wash it. How dirty can a towel really be after one use when the only thing it has been used for is to dry off a freshly washed body?

I typically go through 2 towels/week, but only because I like to dry off with 2 at a time because my bathroom is pretty cold. So basically I use the same towel for 5-7 days.

Normal shower = 92 % of the days

Sex related = once before/once after = 150+ showers a year *brag pose*

DAS - Dirty Ass Shower = 5 per year

Trickel Down 80% of time. Must get at the elusive Toe Jam 20%.

Bath 2x per year. <--- Gay

Body Shampoo by Lovely Ladies at the HH Massage. 2x per decade. Ohh. Soooo hot....

I would like mythbusters to test the cleanliness of towels and also ankle washing.

LOL @ not just using a new towel for each shower, but thinking it is necessary.

I'm a biologist and I would say
1) the negligible number of bacteria on your towel are absolutely zero threat unless you have AIDS
2) from an immunological perspective, most people's hygiene habits are already too sterile, and yours are even worse than that, so clearly you are not worried about health reasons in the first place.

Come the **** on guys, I 100% approve of showering and changing underwear/towels/sheets all the time, but LOL if you think every bit of the extent that most people seem to do it is still for health reasons. All hygiene procedures exceeding some point which most people in the modern developed world would find pretty gross is done entirely for psychological reasons. I totally approve of these psychological reasons, but please don't be silly and believe it's actually to avoid infectious bacteria lol.

What's your condition? I can only see this recommendation making sense to avoid constantly re-infecting yourself with something you already have.

With detergents, I totally would. Which is why I haven't used anything but water for anything except my head, butt, groin and hands in several months by now.

I think it's solvable with lotions, but got, that's gotta be frustrating putting on lotion all over your body every day. I cream my face right after showering, or it would actually start feeling sore within 10 minutes every time.

This is so spot on. I find that a large number of the sheltered kids I run into in the Northeast get sick all of the time. E.g. large percentage of people my age I have worked with have gotten sick at some point this winter and despite the fact I am around them all of the time I have never gotten sick. This in not a one-time thing but in fact something I have found happens often ever since coming to the NE for college.

I am of the belief this happens because the sheltered kids never fully developed their immune systems whereas I did. As a kid growing up in TX I played in the dirt, ate my boogers, bugs and anything else I could pick up, etc. As a 2nd grader at camp I doubt I ever washed my hands and probably showered 3 times in two week. Now granted, these things aren't the most hygiene, but I got by fine, got sick on occasion and was lucky to never get a bad infection or anything. I think early exposure to the environment without my mom making me wash my hands with antibacterial soap every 15 minutes and having my whole room scrubbed with lysol allowed me to develop a robust immune system which keeps me healthy now.

George Carlin has a great bit on how we have a strong immune system but it needs work. It's the truth.

Yup. That's why I stopped scrubbing my arms and legs. You only need to wash places that have folds and ****.
