He gets a variety of guests coming in and out. He tries to screen for normally functioning human beings, but doesn't have a 100% success rate. So he does these things for everyone. Call it a value-added service, cost of doing business, whatever. It's kind of beside the point to my question. You sound like a miserable person.

I don't know how much to ask, but I suggest however much you agree to, you take it as a rent discount for the month. If he actually pays you cash money you might have to pay taxes on it.
