How do you deal with depression? How do you deal with depression?

;Hi,I'm very depressed at the moment and there is a short story I would like to confess.
I went to my step-mother for help and she told me that my father loves me and cares for me. This made me sick and made me puke all day long until I couldn't take it anymore.
She gave me cookies and sandwitches(how the **** is this the right way to treat someone who was hospitalized in a psych ward?) and she told me that is like a second mother to me. I wasn't disturbed by her hospitality but I couldn't take the personal attacks to my mother and myself and the fact that she kept saying that I had dysfunctional family.
She kept smoking at me with no respect and I had to blend in and to pretend that I was normal when the reality is that I couldn't take it anymore from a woman who's a manipulative charlatan and my father who blocked the cadastre of the appartment where I was trying to live in.
I feel very lonely at the moment and no one wants to support me.
I felt manipulated by her and I didn't enjoy what she told me about my father.
I tried singing as a cure for my depression but that didn't helped me.
I also feel insulted by MLYLT because she told me that I'm insane.
How am I insane? I'm just struggling through a tough period of my life and no one wants to support me.
You have no idea how it feels when your own father beated you like a dog.
My father has developed some sort of mental illness after drinking 12 bottles of alcohol.
Do you know how it feels when your own dad is an alcoholic and your own mother couldn't protect you?
I tried self harm a lot of times because the advices from here didn't worked out until I stopped and I realised that my life is not progressing in a healthy way.
I'm sick of being treated like I'm a nobody.
I'm not interested in the opinions of cs3,Didace because they don't seem to have a life experience with trauma. It's a personal trauma and I'm trying to improve myself but my parents are crushing me with their discussions and fights!
What should I do when I'm depressed?
I tried playing poker and it seemed to work. Should I keep playing poker?

I dunno if poker is the answer. Might give you something to do, and keep your
mind busy.

If you have your health you our already doing great.
Almost 1 billion people going to sleep hungry every night. If you
have food and shelter, and our in good health, you our easily doing better than
50% of the world.

Thats the best I can tell you. I have health issues and have depression a long time.
I still do a gratitude meditation everyday and even though I have a far far tougher
life than everyone around me, I still remind myself that I have food to eat today,
and a warm cozy bed.

Thanks for the support! I'm going to play poker because I have no friends and I want to meet new people.
I'll also try yoga or any meditation state that would help me remove my dark thoughts and recover.
I've tried the pills but that didn't helped me a lot and I'm worried that I might become a vegetable!

how about quit feeling sorry for yourself and consult a healthcare professional? There's a bunch of free services available.

There are people that have experienced way worse and sought help and got it. My parents both beat me unconscious on a regular basis and I realized I had to be the change.

There is hope. A young relative of mine recovered from depression and serious drug abuse. He had an abusive father. He's now clean sober, has a job he likes, and is relatively happy. Took years of professional counseling, regular exercise, and some medication, a pet, and more. Good luck.

You make stupid replies when people give you good advice. This is why a lot of people here have decided you’re hopeless, and not worth spending time on.

I've heard micro dosing has benefits.

I have just seen a doc about depression in Korea. So they say there are too many cases of depression and the system doenst provide a safety net for human failures. So if you mess up your school or your career there is nothing in form of a safety net. The West is similarly only rewarding winners and punishing when you make a mistake. That sux of course. A loser should have so many attempts to suceed as he needs. Not in our society. My friend had exactly 2 shots to pass his bar exam to become a lawyer, he failed and now he is dead. I dont know if there is a connection.

What I got from this documentary is that they use electronic medicine in Korea now to treat depression. They figured out what part of the brain is resposible for stuff like anxiety and they treat it with machines and high tech. If there is a country that can do this its Korea, they do have some of the highest if not the highest suicide rates in the world now due to depression I think which makes them research cures and they also have some if not the best technology. (Samsung, LG etc.)

Yea I heard that too, and Ive seen it. One guy got broken up with and he was given micro doses of Ayahuasca. Needless to say he was happy all day and not like before depressed all day. That happened when I was living in Mexico. This is of course off label treatment which our system would never provide since there is little profit to make as usual with herbal treatments. I heard depression is a multi billion business. These blockers and whatnot which Im not a fan are and can be expensive as f imo. Since my friend who got treated by them did suicide. If I would do this there are a lot of scams on the internet to watch out for but also a few reputable ones that do this. One is in mexico and he is providing retreats. Might give it a shot one day.

look at that, its legalized in the USA now? also check out
Potential therapeutic effects

"There are potential antidepressant and anxiolytic effects of ayahuasca.[57][58][59][60][61] For example, in 2018 it was reported that a single dose of ayahuasca significantly reduced symptoms of treatment-resistant depression in a small placebo-controlled trial.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayahuasca

But dont jump on it, there a lot of things to consider

IMO poker is among the worst things for depression. I'm a strong believer that depression represents a valley in the roller coaster of emotions, and when you do things that tend to enhance the peaks and valleys of that roller coaster, you risk falling into a valley that you can't get out of. Any activity that causes you to have endorphin rushes from success (gambling, video games, competitive sports) leads you to fall much further when you have failure.

Beyond the usual therapy type suggestions, I'd be looking at activities with a more even keel type of mild positive result (building things, reading, exercising) or things that are generally constantly positive (having a pet).

Poker, while a social game, is a somewhat anti social endeavor in that it keeps one from entering into a 'flow state' with the rest of society.

the concept of 'flow state' is critical to one feeling needed and productive and completes the idea that you are moving forward.

studies have shown that trapping oneself in a 'flow state' of, say video games or poker, significantly compromises the reality of a greater integration into societal norms. Balancing this 'flow state' of a particular skill set (poker) with the real world is critical to being... well... a balanced individual.

this is not discounting the fact that some individuals have a chemical imbalance at play.

This is 100% curable (for anyone seriously seeking help) by eating a pure carnivore diet. Eat nothing but meat, fish, chicken, eggs, bacon, cheese, coffee, salt and water and you'll start seeing amazing results withing a week to 10 days. I agree with OP stay far away from phsych pill pushing doctors when you can actually heal it instead of just treating it : )

I've been battling it my whole life. Its not always there, but it comes and goes and you just got to fight it and keep going. There are definitely a few things that help:

Exercise - great for the endorphins and stress relief. Help build your confidence as well if you can keep up with it and improve your physique.

Good social interactions - with people you really trust and care about, or even good interactions with babes. Maybe even visit an escort for a fun encounter.

Perspective and have a gratitude journal - we are only on earth for a short time and it goes by fast. It's late November right now, but honestly, summer will be here in no time. Be thankful for what ever positive things you have in your life, and realize that other people have their battles too. Their battles are just different, and quite often alot more difficult that what you are dealing with. Remember you aren't the only one out there battling.

If you can, laugh. Hang out with people that make you laugh, or watch a sweet comedy special, like from Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, or Mitch Hedberg. It always helps.
