If you're trying to unlatch the locking mechanism, don't. They are not reusable. Just cut thru it with these.

it's not meant to be opened, but you shouldn't have ripped it out of the apt. before moving out, the wire's really not worth anything.

These guys are all messing with you. Dont cut the lock, you won't like the results. Just cut the worthless wire and then slide the lock off so you can return the lock to the landlord. It'll save you lots of $$$ and headache.

Cut through all of the gray wires, then slip the lock off.

In the little square end there is a tag that grips the ridges that are on one side. Lift the tag up with a knife and it should slide open.

Or chew through it with nail clippers
