I attended a 5k+ person high school (multiple schools technically, but on the same campus so one school except for athletics purposes). I didn't know at the time, but at least two guys in my class were sleeping with female teachers. This stuff is fairly common whenever adults spend time with each other, and I guess teenagers count too.

As a parent, I can totally understand not being wild about this situation with either my son or daughter. They're at school for a reason, and the teachers have a role to play, and it isn't hitting on/flirting with/sexing my kids.

More bias though: if the teacher in question was old and gross, I would definitely be much more weirded out than if the teacher was in their 20's and hot.

There's a guy on barstoolsports who covers football......and female teacher sex scandals. He does a report card on each one. Pretty funny stuff actually.

I have a personal bias in the same direction but not nearly as strong as yours. The power dynamic is the same in either case. The creep factor depends upon one's personal beliefs and biases.

My buddy used to live in an apartment building, simple, single-story, with a sidewalk that connected them all. This 14 year old girl that lived a few apartments down used to troll past the windows. Her body, which could best be described as "intense", was unreal, regardless of age. Few strippers I've seen could measure up. She knew how to work it, too. She had every male in the complex drooling. Luckily my buddy told me right away she was 14.

Women tend to be attracted to guys with higher status, all else being equal, as good providers/protectors. Men care less than women about status, and more about youth/fertility. So a male student is less likely to be manipulated by the higher status of a teacher than a female student would be.

Data would be nice here as well, but, really, what difference does it make what the teacher is using to manipulate the student? And how do you remove the position of power from the relationship to consider it totally consensual (if the student is even of age legally to consent)?
