I've been working on a bottle of Valentina as well, it's pretty good. Noticed today that the local Meijer has started stocking Valentina Extra Hot, anyone had that? Given how tame regular Valentina is I'm not expecting a lot of heat. I'll probably invest the $1.19 to check it out.

Hot sauce fans,

Friend had a hot sauce party today - everyone bring an interesting or favorite hot sauce.

Great idea IMO.

I have, I like it. I keep a bottle of both the black and the regular and switch back and forth.

Thoughts on Cholula vs Frank's? I went to but some but couldn't believe the price difference and ended up with Frank's. Given I use a bottle a month it kinda matters.

One thing I don't like about Frank's is it isn't quite hot enough and I'm sure the hotter ones are like pure capsaicin levels

They don't taste similar and serve different purposes.

Cholula is by far the best choice for eggs and any breakfast food. Frank's I would probably only use for classic buffalo wing sauce.

cholula (aka 'wood top') is great on eggs and mexican dishes. i don't consider wood top and frank's interchangeable at all...very different flavors meant for very different things.

I'm halfway through my second bottle since I wrote that post. It's become my go to hot sauce. I haven't touched the regular since.

As others have pointed out, very different flavors, but it reminded me of a place where I used to work that would get visited by a roach coach at lunchtime that was run by an older Asian couple. Guy used Sriracha on everything. It was pretty disconcerting the first time I ordered tacos and got Sriracha on them.

Shark: uh, no, not common at all. No gochujang, but there was some delicious homemade spicy kimchi.

27: chips, pulled pork sliders, and pork tacos

I had a friend who did something similar with bacon. An artisanal jowl bacon was the winner as I recall.
