It should be easy to recognize when you go to the (hot) sauce section at an asian grocery store.

That would certainly be the best case scenario.

Is it this stuff? Are we being trolled with the rutabaga?

There are many variations on that sauce. I don't recall one with rutabaga.

No love for mike and diane's ring of fire sauces? First found out about this stuff at a recommendation of one of the workers at firehouse subs. Have found it on amazon for about $15 per 12.5oz

Huge fan of this atm. It's a mix of new world hot sauces, its sort of a combination of tabasco/Crystal Louisiana and Jamaican Scotch Bonnet sort of flavours. It adds a kick but it's also quite mild.

This is my favourite. The hot is too hot for me (and I like it hot). The mild and medium are fantastic. I would describe them as having a slight nutty flavour, that comes from the grilling of the peppers.

Kind of embarrassed that I never gave Cholula a chance after all these comments, gonna have to buy a bottle. I use sriracha on lots of things and to make dips/sauces, original Tabasco on eggs (I like the vinegar taste with eggs), and chipotle Tabasco when I want smoky.

Cholula confirmed garbage. Tastes like ketchup.

the purpose of wood top is not to add heat (because it has no heat). the purpose of wood top is to add a different flavor to your food. it succeeds at that when you use it correctly.

Just like ketchup, if the ketchup you choose to eat lacks tomato and any sugar and oh by the way some dumbass decided to toss in a bunch of red peppers for giggles. Exactly the same thing.

Report back. Interested to hear how these are.

In other news, Marie Sharp's Belizean Heat still makes its way into 75% of my meals and snacks. I'm telling you, this sauce will improve your life satisfaction by at least 3%.

I suggest storing your toilet paper in the freezer from now on.

I accidentally dumped too much Dave's on some leftover noodles. Sauce was definitely very hot but easily bearable. The noodles were already pretty flavourful, so I didn't really taste the 'gourmet' aspect of it.

Honestly, the Z sauce both intrigues and scares me. It's won awards for it's flavour and lots of people comment on it, but it uses extremely hot extract (4 million Scoville units).

I'm going to wait until the weekend to try it. I've been made to work night shifts this week so am chugging a ton of strong coffee, and I know from experience strong coffee + strong hot sauce can play havoc on my insides.

Hopefully an acceptable bump, but I recently came across this stuff at a mall kiosk of all places.

It's honestly the closest to a 10/10 flavor hot sauce I've come across. Probably around a 7/10 on heat with 10 being ghost peppers, has a little bit of a sweet flavor to it.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something new.

My favorite hot sauce of late is this Korean one made in MN:

Not super hot but delicious. Definitely try it if you're in the Twin Cities and see it at the farmers' market. If it really sounds like your thing it looks like you can order it online.

On the larger version of that image you can easily read the ingredients, its very simple:

Gochujang, rice vinegar, sesame oil, water, brown sugar, honey, cayenne. Sweet, tangy, hot, rich.

I'm not big on cooking, and Nandos Hot Peri Peri is the only hot sauce I currently own. A Five Guys fast food place recently opened near me, and I'm immediately a huge fan of whatever "hot sauce" they use. To those of you with more experience, what would be a good comparison to that?

Feel free to mock me if Five Guys and Nandos stuff is considered terrible. I'm no gourmet.
