Love chipotle Tabasco, and I've had that colon cleanser stuff at Cal Tor. I love mustard and I remember liking it.

Kind of embarrassed that I never gave Cholula a chance after all these comments, gonna have to buy a bottle. I use sriracha on lots of things and to make dips/sauces, original Tabasco on eggs (I like the vinegar taste with eggs), and chipotle Tabasco when I want smoky.

Forgot about this one. One of the true greats. Inner Beauty, a hot sauce made at the East Coast Grill in Inman Square, Cambridge. Real heat with real flavor. Highly recommend.

Recipe framed in Chris Schlesingers office:

I think of tapatio as a better tasting cholula

don't care for tabasco but may have to try the chipotle version

Pwns,

The chipotle Tabasco is not really hot at all, but I think it's delicious.

sriracha is really sweet, almost sickeningly. i can do it but it's not my favorite at all.

+3 to chipotle tobasco. try it on a burrito at chipotle, it's the best.

I love really hot sauces but in the UK there aren't really widely available (Tabasco/Nandos = meh imo) and if you find specialist shops that sell them they are always ridiculously over priced.

I now make my own. It's super easy to do, can be much cheaper (depending on your chillies ofc) and it's good fun experimenting with different flavours.

My standard "cheapo" sauce, which I use a lot in cooking and more for heat than anything else uses: oil, onion, garlic, vinegar, sugar, water, salt, dried bird's eyes, paprika, tomato purée and pear.

I cook it up, blend it well and stick it jars. It looks exactly like ketchup. The pear helps give more body, some sweetness and the pectin helps thicken it a bit.

An excellent hot sauce that is reasonably easy to find in grocery stores, but never seems to make these threads is Goya (green bottle) Salsita:

Really flavorful, not too overly spicy. Great on poultry, starches, veggies.

I'm sitting at my desk reading this thread, and my forehead literally started sweating from reading the descriptions of the various hot sauces.

Anyone have any good recipes for homemade hot sauces?

I started a thread in the lounge last year focused around homemade salsa

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/63...013-a-1301920/

If you don't want to clutter this thread up, I'll take all the hot sauce recipes I can get in the Salsa thread. Hot Sauce is on my list to try to make this year out of the garden.

This guy has bunch of simple ones I've tried:

Good thing with hot sauce is it's very versatile so you can experiment or tweak recipes until you get it right.

Thanks! I'm definitely tempted by "PSYCHO JUICE Chipotle Ghost Pepper".

My local Indian grocer used to sell fresh Ghost Chillies. They were awesome but had a lot of variance in how hot they were.

My favorite from California Tortilla. Paired with the fajita burrito, can't go wrong.

When is Taco Bell going to get their act together and get rid of their sauces replaced with ones paired with a stronger flavored hot sauce company. So much more money to be made.

Tapatio is indeed very good.

I also don't really care for original tobasco, but tobasco chipote is absolutely perfect.

Cholula is good, but you will regret buying the garlic cholula, and I love garlic.

Where does Frank's rank? I love the flavor!

Frank's is decent on home made wings, but it's a bottom tier hot sauce imo.

Trader Joe's has a really good habanero hot sauce. That and tapatio are my every day sauces. My mother in law makes the best chili garlic sauce (Vietnamese style). Last time she made it with crazy hot Indian chilis because that was what was on sale. Of course she didn't tell me or my brother in law about this until after we dumped a ton into our soup. Lol. I do need to learn that recipe though. Maybe I'll share if I get it...

Has anyone tried that? I only know it from the film, he seemed to make look like it was a semi-big deal but that could have just been his shtick.
My guess is it's weak and watery.
