In my diagram, I placed the observer 9k miles from the Sun, at least three times further than your proposed distance. From there, the Sun is being viewed with the shallowest possible angle, and it is still close to twenty degrees from horizontal.
At your proposed distance, 3k miles from the observer, the angle is even steeper, 45 degrees.
Perhaps you should think about the honest approach, and admit that there is nowhere to put an x on this diagram that would make the Sun appear to touch the horizon. Taking this honest approach does not force you to immediately accept a globe Earth, but it should make an honest person accept that the measurements you are working with are very wrong.
