How do the flat earthers explain the tides? Is it a coincidence that spring and neap tides align with the positions of the sun and moon?

So what happens when global warming melts the ice walls?
04-30-2017 , 01:27 PM
I'm glad that nonsense isn't getting any traction in france.

The fact that the ice walls haven't melted pretty much proves climate change is another lie.

there's a few threads on the flat earth forums about this, usually they just make something up on the spot. I'm not sure the exact consensus on this, because there's no unifying flat earth theory. Just a lot of youtoobz and conspiracy theories.

It's pretty impossible to debate someone that presents themselves from a "scientific" standpoint but does not believe in science, or even basic mathematical theory. I think that forum is at the point where at least half the people on there are just there to troll the flat earthers. To their credit though, they don't typically ban those people.

It's been a passing hobby/fascination of mine for a few years. I was raised to believe every kind of conspiracy theory from my mom, she's exactly that type of person. I never post on there but I'm fairly familiar with all the apologia. It's really fascinating and weird. I'm pretty sure it's like the "end stage" conspiracy theorist's conspiracy theory, when someone goes waaay too far down the rabbit hole. There's been a study about how belief in one conspiracy theory makes you more likely to believe other theories.

I kind of think it starts from a belief that the moon landing was fake, which explains all the weird NASA **** they believe.

The moon landing is in a different league though, fe is obviously false but the whole flag and shadow situation has not really been resolved wrt the moon.

My daughter and I were talking about this and wondering what the most commonly believed conspiracy theory is. I said that it's JFK, to which she replied "yeah, but that's not even really a conspiracy theory", meaning she believes of course there's more to the story than we've been told. Which I think I also believe, to a point. And according to the tubes the vast majority of people believe that Oswald was not acting alone.

i'm surprised there's no pseudoscientific consensus on tides.

i also like that this is a tremendously huge conspiracy, paying off every scientist and science student with access to top technology that could blow this whole lie out of the water. while simultaneously allowing any idiot with no knowledge or access to top technology to start a website or youtube that gets millions of hits. if it's really this massive of a conspiracy to suppress truth how simple would it be to censor the truth online? they censor porn on youtube, why isn't all this flat earth truth on the dark web? are you telling me YOUTUBE isn't in on the conspiracy??

Hahahahaha oh lord this thread is great.

you all laugh at pizzaGate now but when your kids get sexually abused and grinded into pizza meat by Hillary and her goons the only ones laughing will be the scientists at NASA

Guess we don't need moobuckets here after all

Please, do go on...

Screamin,

That's why most of these flat earth guys you see are a little kooky.

They let the dumber ones remain to make the conspiracy look more legit. You can only find all the really credible scholars with serious flat earth breakdowns on the Dark Web.

When moo buckets gets back perhaps he can explain the phases of the moon.

Why would you deprive yourself of the opportunity to go to a source yourself since all these cats do is repeat something someone else said?

The sun is closer to the earth than New York City is to SF.

Quote:
Every 28 days:
1. the sun circles the earth 28 times, and
2. the moon circles the earth only 27 times.

In other words, the moon moves slower than the sun. That is what causes the moon phases.

This is because:
1. the sun circles the earth in 24 hours, and
2. the moon circles the earth in 24 hours and 50 minutes

Thus, a complete lunar cycle is composed of 28 days... that is... 28 days (of 24 hours each)...for that is when the Sun and Moon align again.... every 28 days.
lol

Ok, so what about the stars?

One thing about tides that confuses me is how come they work on oceans but not lakes??? The magnitude of oceans tide is measured in feet and on lakes mm to cm. You can explain the difference?

Is this for real?

Oceans are bigger. They hold a larger volume of water.

Its incredible that a forum full of critical thinkers is so dismissive of critical thinking.
05-01-2017 , 02:23 AM
as someone who rec shoots and studies please explain this to me?

after you're done talking about the wind, please explain it to me like there's no wind?

I think religion is one of the worst things that has ever happened to society. I don't believe in flat earth and consider science to be one of the few things we can consider unbiased and fact based in the world today, basically the only mechanism to progress

Having said that, it is important to remember that if humans survive another thousand years and continue to progress scientifically, they will look back at the 2017 understanding of the universe as laughably archaic

Another ten-thousand, hundred-thousand, million years, and our current understanding of the universe won't be anything but a necessary stepping stone to the truth, even then, they might still be relatively lost on to whats truly happening

My point is, debate is really fun and science has accomplished many unimaginable things and will continue to do so, but we aren't even kinda close to understanding what is really going on in the universe. I'm sure the real answer is tremendously crazier than anything the conspiritards in the darkest corner of the internet or anywhere else could even begin to imagine

So Dolph Lundgren is a seriously smart dude. I accept that. What is his view about climate change?
