Moved into my house with a walkout finished basement in June. I cannot find the shutoff valve to my rear hose faucet. Any ideas ?

Oof. I'm guessing you're trying to winterize?

Yeah I live in maryland. Basement is half drop ceiling half sheet rock. Guess I'll start looking in the drop ceiling

I don't think I've ever had separate shut offs, just one main. I make sure to unhook all hoses from the spigots each fall and everything has always been fine. It was 17 degrees this morning.

An interior shutoff is not always standard. You should be ok without it, but installing one would be one of the simpler soldering jobs to tackle if you wanted peace of mind.

Yeah, frost free hose bibs are pretty common now and no shutoff is necessary.

Any good resources you guys would recommend about the types of things a first-time home/condo-buyer should start to think about as they begin the process?

Found my rear shutoff in the drop ceiling. But now I can't disconnect my hose lol. Oh well I'm leaving it on

Foundation, Block, waterproofing, insulation on basement, main beam set, and brick to grade done the last 2 weeks. Now waiting for wood.

Why'd you choose block over poured concrete?

Also, are there still columns that need to go in? That beam looks way too small for that span.

We like the look of the block on the inside basement. We had them pour every block 3ft. with re-bar and concrete all the way up. to make it extra strong. I think code is every 5ft.

There are 3 columns that need to go in place. They are 16'8" from the ends and one in the middle, which is 15' from the other 2. The column was too long for one pc. so it is bolted in the middle. I guess they put the columns in while they are doing the floor.

Yeah, I can see the fully grouted cells with what looks like #6. Nothing wrong with block, I was just curious why. It's relatively uncommon for basement walls.

Those are bolts sticking out for the sill plate, but yeah they used re-bar for the for grouted cells. I really wanted to do ICF Walls, but the budget wasn't there.

ICF is pretty cool stuff. I designed a theater using that a year or 2 ago and it was cool seeing it go up. Client cut it on the last project because of cost.

Is 1ppm CO from a furnace ok or is zero the only acceptable number?

1ppm is fine. You really don't have to worry until it's at about 70ppm or higher consistently
