Yeah, your second solution is what I settled on. A somewhat decorative vinyl panel facing in. Then a layer of mass loaded vinyl, then sound absorbing insulation, and another vinyl panel facing out. I'll make 5 or 6 panels that butt up against each other that I can remove if necessary.

Pavers are really heavy. One-ton truck?

I was a Lowes yesterday and saw them loading a pallet into a half-ton. Didn't look like it could drive away. The pallet was behind the axle, but still.

LOL, yeah.

1/2 ton.

When they first put the pallet on the truck, I thought the whole thing was going to collapse. They pushed it up towards the cab a bit and it got a bit better, but still a little scary. I had to go about 5 miles for each load. The truck felt like it was swaying a bit, but after I got used to it, it seemed OK.

I wouldn't make a habit of it, though.

Flooring question.

We are installing vinyl planks downstairs and in the upstairs hall. We don’t know what to do with the stairs and landing.

Options:

1. Vinyl plank the stairs

2. Full carpet stairs

3. Carpet top of stairs, vinyl plank risers

4. Permanent runner on stairs but sides would be real hardwood. (Added cost, different wood than vinyl flooring)

5. Vinyl plank the stairs and we install a runner ourselves (never done it, University of YouTube to help learn how)

What choice is best and why?

its not really a question of best, its a combination of what works, what you like and what it costs.

If I had my choice, I would do the stairs in vinyl to match the floors and put non skid pads on the steps

Wont look exactly pretty, but easier to maintain and safer.

Seems like any should work, just depends what you like. I've been thinking of decarpeting my stairs in favor of a natural wood look. I think I like the runner idea for traction.

An offshoot of #3 would be to use a differently-toned wood(ish) flooring for either the risers or the treads, to give a little offset. Might help to see the stairs in dim light too.

carpeted stairs seems safest (depending on carpet chosen) though i have no data to back it up

if you have a no shoe policy in your house and walk around in your socks a bunch, i recommend carpet or a rug.
shoes or barefoot, hard surface is ok.

Thanks for the advice. We decided to vinyl plank the treads and white wood the risers to give it that nice contrast.

If the stairs prove to be too loud and/or slippery, we’ll add a runner.

My office just replaced floor with vinyl planks and used matching treads for the stairs, which were available through same company.

Does it look good? Are they slippery on the stairs at all? Loud when stepped on?

Looks good, not slippery, not loud. Not sure if this is similar to what you got, but happened to take a picture this morning.

Only thing I didn't really care for is the top bullnose is attached to the floor planks and leaves a little 1/8" edge on top step. If you look closely at the top tread where the tape is you can see it.
Also, I thought these treads were oak initially. Good quality fake stuff imo.

Thanks for sharing this and I’m glad it’s not loud or slippery. Our planks are a bit darker and have beveled edges to give a faux grout line sort of look that makes them look even more like real hardwood. Looks like your office risers are black and ours will be white. Otherwise, pretty similar stuff.

Kinda surprised that 27o's office didn't have to put some kind of marking on the stairs per ADA (to help people with poor vision, like the yellow stripes in arenas and so on). Does look nice, wouldn't have guessed it was fake wood.

I think if you have limited public access and under a certain amount of employees you are exempt?

in any case Im not a fan of bullnose on stairs.

That small amount of overhang just seems to catch my foot.

Same.

I've fallen up the stairs far more often than I've fallen down them.

Usually it's just interest and principle unless you add it in. There's usually a box for taxes and one for insurance,

Property taxes are very localized. There's no way anyone can guess without more info.

Most listings include property tax info, in my experience.

My house was 205k back in 2013 and my mortgage payment with taxes and ins is 1350. My taxes are cheap for my area in the northeast. Approximately 2500 per year. If you pick my house up and put it in the next town over, my taxes would be more than double.
