Well, the answer is always call an electrician if you're not sure.

You've tried more than one outlet with more than one device? (a drill can have a short in it)

Could be the breaker.

MLY,

In no particular order:

-that looks like the marble version of particle board. Basically shards of marble pressed into a 'slab'

-gap at backsplash is fairly common. Just add a 'marble' backsplash I guess. I recently installed some soapstone that had similar mesh to shaft's picture on the underside, but also have no backsplash because they came out beforehand and measured the existing conditions. Because that is what normal people do.

-paying 3300 up front is never advisable. You have no recourse.

-stainless sink mounted on top of marble is dumb, regardless of whether you had already bought the sink or not. What was the sink, 150 tops?

Here is a spot where the slab had to be cut to conform to existing conditions:

To pay that much and not even have a crew come out to measure first is pretty shoddy. I wish I could say you get what you pay for, but you paid premium for crap installation.

Also, when they were fabricating they called to tell me my sink I had purchased could only be top-mounted and I should 100% get an undermount so I did that and returned the original sink. For this and stellar measurement and installation, I tipped the two guys that installed $20 each and gave them another $20 to give to the fabricator guy for looking out for us. And that was still under what you paid and mine was two countertops and an island from one slab.

Dang that's a nice fit.

Looking closely it does look like shards pressed together. The slab I chose had the nice veins and that just has splotches of black/grey.

It still looks nice. You should add a 3/4" backsplash now of the same material and call it a day. 4" will go up to the existing tile. The installers would probably go for that too.

I personally thought your last counter came out great, it just needed to have that cove fixed :/

This is how big the gap is! That is wood paneling and the existing notch is where the old countertop was. I also just noticed a corner broken off and they didn't use a goddamn level.
I'm gonna stop posting about it, but I was given the run around when I called them to come fix the gap. Got an email shortly after saying my flooring was just delivered to them and I could come pick it up with a 40+font disclaimer that they don't do plumbing work typed at the bottom.

I suggest you have them do this:

Short of the edge of the counter, but beyond the seam. It will tie everything together nicely.

Yeah different rooms, different devices. Electrician it is. I just know nothing about this and was wondering if it was a common thing and easy to fix or no way to tell without a pro

Thanks 27, that would actually be the perfect fix as I wouldn't have to re-tile. IF they will agree to it. I'm not even sure they are going to send someone back to even look at it and it ended up being around $400 for the same 4" backplash marble in the bathroom.

You could also literally do what you did with the last countertop on some 3/4" wood and do it yourself.

I'd be interested what their quote would be now though. My guess is $600.

Cool. Problem solved. Just take the cash back to the installers, toss it on the counter, and tell them to come back whenever the next tournament is to clean things up.

But better hold a little of that cash back to pay the landscapers for when they decide to return.

Man, maybe its just me but that looks like **** where the marble goes past the beaded paneling.(the marble top looks ****** too, but that's just a question of taste)

I guess at this point covering up the gap with a notch in the backsplash (or the paneling) is the most easy fix.

3x 4-panel sliders finally received for the sun room. Installer dude can't come till June 1ish. No biggy cause they screwed up and did not do grids on one of the doors, so already have a call into them for resolution.

got the nice thick glass and love it. nice and heavy doors

Have you determined everything that is run by that particular breaker to see what kind of pull is being drawn?

He should do that first, once power is off he will know right away what devices are not on.

Got them to come fix the gap, now I can tile down to the counter top like I wanted.
The seam is fixed as well.

He tried to give me the run around that the wall wasn't even and the gap was only 1/8" and is standard. I made him get his level+tape measurer out and told him not to try to bull**** me and to fix it or gtf out.
The seam magically fixed when he put the counter flush to the wall...eyeroll.

Hooking the sink back up is not SOP for counter guys. They are not plumbers. What happens if your sink starts leaking? Then you go ***** to the counter guys that they hooked it up wrong and you want compensation...

Would you expect drywall guys to move electrical outlets?

It is not hard to hook a sink up and not have it leak and certainly doesn't take a plumber to do. I believe it should be a part of the I stillation so the homeowmer doesn't have to freaking mess with it.
It is absolutely not equivalent to electrical work where you should be certified.
Baaah!

You’re missing the point. If they don’t hook up the sink, there is literally zero possibility you come ***** that they did it wrong.

And if “it’s not that difficult” why are you in here bitching about it for a second time???

And I like how you marginalize one trade compared to another. I personally think electrical is easier than plumbing, probably because my dad is an electrician so I grew up doing it, but to each their own.

I'm bitching because I paid so much and at no point during the transaction did they tell me I needed to plan on reconnecting my sinks. The guy made it all warm and fuzzy with rainbows and I wouldn't have to worry about a thing and I came home to some bull****. Now it just super duper pisses me off that I have to do anything at all myself in regards to the sinks or counters.
