What's the deal with sandwiches? What's the deal with sandwiches?

Eggs had their day in the sun, and cereal already made it's splash. Now it's time to celebrate an old standby, the sandwich!

I'll get things started with a classic - the ham, turkey, and salami on wheat.

And a pork cutlet torta.

Took me a while to come around to the idea of a meatless sammy, but these are delicious. Marinated, grilled portabellas with pesto spread. Made sure the cheese was perfectly melted just for 27

I lied and actually couldn't do it without at least a little meat, so I fried some prosciutto til crispy and threw it on there too

We’re smoking a brisket this weekend, posting here for accountability to add sandwich pics at a later time. This thread was long overdue!

What defines a 'sandwich'? This should be decided before we get too deep in the thread. Is a gyro a sandwich? A hot dog or hamburger? Slice of pizza? Fry bread (sweet or savory filling, or does it matter?).

For the record, I love sammiches, PB&J, heroes, subs, whatever. I'd eat the heck out of all those posted above, but sub real meat for the portabella, ldo.

Also, I don't think a hot dog is a sandwich, but I think maybe a hamburger is. Pizza - no. Fry bread, stuffed with red chili pork - yes, sprinkled with powdered sugar or honey - no.

Didn't we have a thread /pole about ranking the best sandwich not too long ago? I am a grilled cheese guy myself along with the many variations of the grilled cheese.

Yeah, I think this is a thread for people to flex by posting their sandwich creations though.

If a traditional gyro is a sandwich, I don't see why fry bread isn't? They are practically identical, depending on filling.

And both are super tasty!

This.

People can post whatever they want I guess. Personally I wouldn't include stuff like burgers, hotdogs, pizza, burritos etc in this thread and think that probably should go in the cooking thread. But no big deal if people want to put it here.

Cs3, that torta is the clear winner in your OP. I would have just skipped the first sandwich and put the ham in the torta.

The first sandwich would be elite with some Iggy's sourdough, but codesis botched it with the lolwheat. I understand your pain.

Far from a flex but a modest sharp cheddar and thick cut bacon I made just now (in honor of mr baseball since he is an og).
Edit to add that Kerrygold Irish butter is essential if you take these things seriously.

Elite Sandwich Warning with a side of experiment: Sourdough Grilled Cheese w/ Tomato & Basil

Bottom two, 1 week old. Top two, fresh today:

Tastes like Summer. As simple as it gets:

Obviously fresh was better, but I was pleasantly surprised by how close the week-old was. Very similar.

I think we should just submit our entries and people can decide if they qualify as sandwiches.

Well apparently there's a non-zero chance someone's going to post pizza pics.

Let's keep it light and fun, the more "sandwiches" the better!

I enjoy wheat toast, it tastes the opposite of indulgent but not unpleasant, which I find rewarding. Re: El D I haven’t been around much myself for a while, but I assume he left in an LKJ approved manner with little fanfare. He’s probably eating baller sandwiches somewhere and waiting to return until 2p2 needs him most.

It's sammich. Get your spelling right.

Unless you have no thought or care of OOT history.

Dumbasses.
