This is the thread for a season long Sunday Night football squares pool.

Rules: 100 squares. 2 pools, 1 at $20/square, 1 at $100 per square. Draw squares before the season starts, and you get those squares for all 20 games (18 regular season, first 2 playoff weeks). For playoff weeks, the latest Sunday game will be used.

Board will be home/away teams. Names/numbers will be set via randomization as usual. Each weekly winner will receive payouts of $100 ($20 pool) or $500 ($100 pool).

Once the board nears completion (ie, I have a fairly reasonable expectation that it will fill), I will start collecting funds. Once all funds are collected, I will ask for volunteers to help with randomization.

Sorry for any confusion with the poll thread. I decided to just use a typical 100 square board for simplicity, and just put forward the logistics of this to see what interest we can gain. Thanks for feedback, and thanks in advance to anyone who wishes to participate.

A request has been brought up to randomize multiple times throughout the season. I would be okay with that, but wanted to check with those who have claimed squares already to get their input.

I'm thinking every 2 games we change numbers, and i would have all of the boards set ahead of time to make it easier. Randomize them all at once, reveal them all, and track them on a 2 week basis.

Brianr, AzOther1, and pokeraz.....any concerns with this? Does it change your desire to participate? Please let me know either way. Thanks!

If we randomize periodically. Not in if I'm stuck with the same numbers every week. I like the "every 2 weeks" option, but 4 or 5 is fine too.

How about reranding any time the same combo cashes in consecutive weeks?

I’m ok with whatever you decide. But, if you do go with re-drawing numbers, I’d probably drop to 2x $100’s. I only did 4 to minimize getting stuck with bad numbers for the season.

The problem with randomizing during the season is the board is already set, so it would have to be someone not in the pool to do the randomization. I think randomizing at a set period, all prior to the season starting, is the best way to proceed.

I think the plan is to re-randomize, and i think every 2 weeks will make it less likely someone gets stuck with bad numbers consistently. I'll update your position.

I’m in for whatever but think every 2 will be a pain in the ass. Every four seems like a decent compromise.

You would need to do this, as drawing 5-9 vs. 7-0 on a season-long squares thing is no bueno.


My unsolicited, simple solution:

-graph out a sheet with the Home Team being A-->J and away team 0-9.
-that stays static the entire season
-then just pull a new randomized sheet every week


edit: agree with above doing entire season randomization before week 1.

If I have all of the spreadsheetssheets filled out before the season starts it shouldn't be bad at all. Maybe a little more time and effort but it will keep someone from having shitty numbers the whole time, so it'll be worth it. I'll just need emoigh help randomizing numbers when the time comes. I don't see that being a concern.

My vote is to randomize every week, but would accept every other week. It's not a deal breaker.

Every 2 weeks seems ideal. Lest we forget you can also get 'premium' numbers and that would be fun to ride.
