At least we have someone to blame for Broken Arrow, Face/Off, and Swordfish. I did like him in Get Shorty, though.

I hadn't noticed it before, but am kind of on LKJs side with this except I didn't think the milkshake delivery was all that good.

Face/Off is amazing. So bad, it's actually ****ing brillliant.

That's Nick Cage, though. Same with Con Air.

Totally. Both are enjoyable guilty pleasures.

I enjoyed Con Air, despite the utter ridiculousness of Cage's accent. I did not enjoy Face/Off. Certainly The Rock is far better than both.

Yeah, The Rock is just damn good, full stop. I think I've said so elsewhere, but that flick is basically the peak of 90s action (and Michael Bay's filmography).

While simultaneously making SLJ a star.

Always worth a mention that Will Smith turned down Django too.

And Broken Arrow was a necessity so as to set the stage for:

Howie had to show them chops.

It reminds me of Raising Arizona, so I'm fine with it. Also, the movie is ridiculous which only adds to the awesomeness.

Raising Arizona is epic, easily one of the best from Cage. Even if I wasn't in it.

Not a huge Cage fan, but 10-15 years ago my wife and I were having dinner at Antoine's in New Orleans, which at the time had a "civilized" dress code (I think it has been relaxed a bit), but it's probably my favorite restaurant so I deal with that.

We are about in the midst of our appetizers when I see a couple coming in and the guy is wearing blue jeans, no tie, no jacket, etc. I start ranting. My wife soon informs me that it is Nicolas Cage, so I calm down. A little. He and the woman he is with are seated two tables beyond us; the table between us is a small unoccupied table so we're pretty close. There is a large party across the aisle and one of the diners has obviously been over-served and says, "Hey, Nic" and motions for him to come over. Cage gets up, goes over and listens to the guy's drunken babbling. It quickly becomes apparent that Cage has been even more over-served than this moron. Very entertaining scene in a weird sort of way.

After a few minutes the head restaurant dude comes over and asks Cage if he and his companion would be agreeable to being re-seated in one of the more private dining rooms farther back. They agreed and got up to move. It was only then that we realized that the woman had carried in some kind of little ****ing dog and had been sitting with him in her lap! My wife had been a big Cage fan, but that took a little of the luster out for her. I still rage about that when I see that ****er on-screen.

/cool story, bro

Gotta say, I was really expecting a more favorable Cage story after you led with, “Not a huge Cage fan, but…”

I saw Nicolas Cage at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Then you should have seen her (and my) reaction when we walked out of Antoine's and there was a huge stretch limo parked right outside the front door with the engine running--obviously waiting for the animal lovers! Those streets in the French Quarter really don't have much room to spare for some entitled ******* having a limo wait for him and his friend's ****ing dog while they have a leisurely dinner.

@jish

No idea how you refrained from being a supersmartass when you encountered him at checkout. You're a better man than I am.

I've read the same account somewhere before, but I think it was Ryan Gosling instead.

I may have posted it here previously--apologies for the repetitive rambling if I have. No personal experience with Ryan Gosling, so if you read a similar report from someone else about him it would indeed be a huge coincidence.

eta: One additional detail to see if it might ring a bell (may have included it if I reported this previously)--my wife had called in sick to work to make that trip to NOLA, so she was frustrated that she couldn't tell any of her friends that she had seen Nic Cage. LOL!

I remember being disappointed to discover it was fake, would've been awesome if true.
