You found the vehicle you want at a great price, and you still want more discounts. Talk about entitlement generation.

The new Jeep Cherokee's look like every other soccer mom SUV. Save yourself some money and buy one those old school Jeep wagoneers with the wood paneling and get it lifted.

^now that is drippin' swagoo

We know dealerships make money on incentives related to financing. If OP is truly in a position to pay cash, then the thing to do is run the app with a limitation that it is a one-pull to the dealer captive. Then when the first statement arrives, write the check and pay off the note. Would think that gets the OP the $500 that is apparently the make or break difference on pulling the trigger (given the other questions were never answered).

And the dealership takes it right in the ass when their incentive gets yanked due to instapayoff. Lenders know this game.

Why are you people telling the dealer how you are going to pay for a vehicle before you have agreed on a price?

When I was looking around for new cars this year, the Jeep Cherokee was actually my favorite test drive. (Out of Acura RDX, Subaru Forester, Mazda CX5, Honda CRV.) But I couldn't ignore their terrible reputation in terms of reliability, and ended up with the CRV.

Is this newer jeeps you guys mean? I used to drive a Cherokee, but an older one, and it never had problems. The Wrangler has been reliable for me also. ... I've also heard that Jeeps hold their value better than other vehicles?

This.

LOL at buying one, especially getting bent over on a brand new model. Another LOL at the 36K mile/3yr warranty.

elSapo,
Newer Cherokees have the terrible rep. Wranglers have a mostly solid reputation.

Right. Probably wouldn’t go back to that dealership for service or anything tho.

Because customers think the phrase "Cash Deal" is some sort of dangling carrot and the dealership is gonna collectively drop to their knees and open wide for them. They think that the cash amount is going to be all net for the dealer when in actuality it's going to be a push at best. The sales rep will be lucky to get $250 out of it on a new unit. That's typically the ceiling on a "cash deal" from a sales rep POV.
