Please don't lump everyone over 30 w/the people who don't understand humor or irony itt.

My first thought though was what if you were getting ready to go take a final or run a marathon or something? That would suck.

Actually, the marketing angle pushes it from uninteresting to super lame.

Repetition often makes the unfunny funny and the slightly funny more funny.

This is actually kind of funny. Are you allowed to veto an "icing"? I mean, if you're drinking with your friends and one of them whips out a Smirnoff and is like DRINK THIS BRO, are you allowed to tell them no because it's so uncreative and unfunny?

For some reason, this reminds me of this video:

This post has me laughing, imagining a documentary in 30-40 years about some guy who just couldn't stop. He's a complete wreck, spending all his money on Smirnof Ice and icing strangers on the street.

"Suck it, Nasim. Enjoy studying for the CCNA and configuring routers for the rest of your life!"

Anyway, this idea sounds humorous. But not with Smirnoff Ice. Though I guess that is part of the point - to make someone drink something ******ed.

flashlight: "I call Smirinoff Ice!" vvvv nice.

all: Cardo is correct. This rules and I'm pretty disappointed I was not aware of it this past weekend in St. Louis. I look forward to icing some of my bros soon.

Henry and others: Yes, it is stupid. But often stupid + alcohol + good friends = awesome.

That is odd. I mean Smirnoff is a vodka brand name, i cant imagine what it would be like made with anything but.

Turbo Shandies are drinkable, but if you are mixing lager with anything you might as well go for some good cider and get some Snakebites.

Cue half the thread backtracking so their views no align with ElD's

Edit to add it was hilarious at one point there was a "ElD wouldnt do it therefore it is bad" argument and then the man himself comes in and says it looks like a laugh.

I think if Icing someone caught on and happened a lot with my friends, it would get old quickly...If we all thought of some clever ways to do it, and had a night or weekend where we did this it could be funny, but i don't think this is a running gag kind of thing

I have a question: I am/was an alcoholic. If iced I would not drink it. Would that mean I am not allowed to ice anyone, or am I some sort of invincible superhero of icing?

The first rule of ice club

Quote:
1) You cannot refuse an Ice. If you refuse to drink the Ice you are instantly excommunicated and shunned, and thus can never Ice another bro or be iced.

Well until you get iced I'm assuming you can ice bros on a freeroll, probably not in the spirit of bros icing bros to be a recovering alcoholic though.

Just make your own version, "sober people wheatgrassing sober people" isn't as sexy, but it's a lot healthier.

What if a bro catches wind of the icing before it comes and avoids or calls it out? Seems to me that the rule should be the icer should then become the icee.

+1

Would be pretty funny if it were actually an authentic drinking game.

As has been pointed out it probably started as an authentic drinking game and Smirnof just decided to roll with it.

Who cares if it's marketing? Is there some code where we need to avoid products that are marketed in a certain way?

I think it works best for college, though, since you can get away with drinking pretty much everywhere. If forcing someone to take a knee and chug a Smirnoff Ice in the middle of the gym or a lecture hall isn't funny to you, I'm not sure what to tell you. And yes, it is funnier/more ironic because it's Smirnoff Ice and not beer.

Going out to a kegger and leaving some Ices under your Bros pillows in the dorm sounds kind of awesome.

Not that I'd ever do this but if I did I'd probably use something equally fruity that isn't Smirnof Ice just out of principal. The gayness of getting iced would probably put me into a blind rage at this point.
