Easiest bet ever. Any nitty food/restaurant or grammar/spelling issue thread on its own wins. The combo was a no-brainer. Not sure if oxford comma would make a difference in the interpretation or not, but it doesn't really matter. It's just a poorly constructed description. However, even a meek Englishman should have no problem asking "In the special is that brie on the side or brie in the sauce?"
I was so confident I didn't even consider asking.

Grammatically, you guys could be completely correct in your assessment.

I tend to ignore grammar when looking at menus as so many menus these days read like a list of ingredients.

I will clarify that after reading Tom's updated OP, i do not expect brie on the side but rather in dollops or a thin wedge on the chicken.

Part of the problem is also the use of the generic "sauce". Had "mornay" or "beurre blanc" or "bordelaise" taken the place of sauce, there would have been less confusion.
