Your post about addiction just shows you don't know much about it but that's not big deal. Think of a person with OCD. They just HAVE to wash their hands, or flip a switch 10 times when they turn a light on, or clean an entire room, ect. Addiction is a lot like that in it's behavioral mechanism.
There's just this itch that you have to scratch and if you don't engage in that compulsive behavior it's just gnaws and gnaws at you until you cave and flip that switch tens times or drink 10 beers in a row. There's a lot more going on in them scientifically but that's probably the best way to describe those compulsion, your brain and emotional system just keep on pushing you and pushing you until you bend to it's will. It's almost like you're possessed in a way.
You're right tho, it's not a disease. It's basically programming of the brain and emotional system. Until you change that programming you a robot programmed to engage in that behavior.
