Moo, so when I observe that little red ball with my telescope, from my own backyard, what am I looking at if it is not Mars? It looks pretty damn real. I can see the polar caps, the redness and on really good clear nights, I can see cloud formations. Why does it keep moving? I have to program the telescope to follow it.

Not very helpful. I built a 12" Dobsonian Reflector when I was a teenager. Still have it. It is just glass, mirror, tube. No conspiracy. I observe those objects with the naked eye.
