Another similar style worth checking out is Kumail Nanjiani. I slept on this guy for awhile, but decided to pick up his hour long special from the CCDirect site. Great special. This guy is a lot of fun.

I like him from what I've heard of him on podcasts. Also was in an ep of portlandia as a waiter and was really funny.

He's got a podcast w his wife call The Indoor Kids, about video games.

He gets away w it bc he's not white. Difference between him and Aziz is that Aziz says he feels like he doesn't have to make his act about being Indian and never stoops to using a stereotypical Indian accent. I can't even to bring myself to say Mitch was a genius. He was a damn funny guy, but that's it. He's another one of those that had he not died, he'd be another on the list of the better working standups at the time. But he did, and everyone thinks he's great. I've got most of his CD's and they're okay for an occasional listen.

I'm not even gonna start on how idiotic your post about Louis CK is.

Hedberg was regarded in most circles as the best comic at the time next to Seinfeld. His style was unparalleled, and his writing was impeccable. I don't think he would have been considered just a working comic.

Witty is probably a better word. Louie is more of a genius. Anyway, both are two of my favorites of all time no matter what words you can used to describe them.

You can add TJ Miller to the unfunny pile.

Never seen any TJ Miller standup, but find him funny in podcasts I've heard him on. Guess his style could be off-putting to some people.

Pete Holmes is a great standup. You Made It Weird w Pete Holmes is a great podcast and he gets great guests. Love everytime Pete is on Doug Loves Movies.

Pete Holmes 2nd special is pretty decent as well. It's nice to hear someone who is joyously funny and not comedically venting from time to time. Though that is my favorite style.

I meant that the way he worded it is like someone else taking Hedbergs bit. Yours (rakeme) is almost verbatim. His (dlk9s) is more like a reinterpretation.

Watched the new Marc Maron special, Thinky Pain, on Netflix last night. Was outstanding. Probably the best stand up I've seen on netflix. Was a bit long (~95 minutes). Other than comedy central presents, only stand up of maron's I've seen. Have heard every episode of wtf, so know his style of comedy.

Know maron can come across as angry, mad, abrasive, etc but he really didn't come across like that in the special. Probably the smartest stand up I've seen but his comedy is very accessible for people not on his plain.

Yeah, saw someone mention it in the Netflix thread. Didn't even know about it. I loved it and think, from what I've heard maron say on wtf about his former self, that it's probably different from his earlier material as a stand up. Could seem him being more of an abrasive, **** you type of comic back in the day.

Its so bizarre to me how so many comics I revere in turn revere Bill Hicks. I have barely ever gotten a chuckle out of watching him, and frankly, i think most of his insights are rather banal. Still, I'm just going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and say I dont get him.

Also, I look forward to watching that Maron special as well. Hopefully, everyone with NetFlix has seen Stanhope's Beer Hall Putsch already. If not go do it.

I've seen Dave attell and Louie ck a few times, my face hurt from smiling/laughing throughout attells set. Go see him if you have the chance he absolutely kills live
